    HI,

I currently have an old philips 32" set, which I was hoping to upgrade with a plasma, however when I demo'd these I ,personally, didn't see that much of an improvement in piccy. Not 3 grands worth anyway!
So, does anyone recommend a set, preferably 36", that my piccy would be improved upon?Have been thinking of the Tosh pf2?OR should i just stick with what I got, which is ok apart from some smearing,I am only interested in pic as sound goes through my amp???
    Cheers,

    Phil

rct puts on FlameProof Suit ;)

Look at the Philips 36PW9607... no matter what many say, there are good examples and if you can get hold of one they are fantastic TVs. I would buy my 9617 again if I was looking for a new set today :)

I was looking at the PF2 but put off by the gloss black trim around the screen. The Panasonic TX36PD30C looks good on paper.

If you've got the money for a Plasma,I would do more research and go and have a look at them in every shop you can.I saw one once,Pioneer I think and the colours and contrast were amazing.

Your Philips TV sounds like a 100Hz.If you go for another CRT,I would personally avoid 100Hz,which all 36in are.

Try not to rush your decision.

I am only guessing,as you said the picture smears.

There is an enormous jump in price from a 32in CRT to a Plasma,so you could save a packet and get another 32in.

If your looking for top quality high resolution tv with progresive scan pal and ntsc go for the jvc 32d25 unforntunately they dont make them in 36 inch , everthing is great with these tv. It has the DIST technology. Which of what I know jvc make a plasma with this technology but it could be costly but if you cant afford it buy the jvc its worth the money. But one thing - view a dvd with a progresive scan dvd player if you can thats when you will go wow.!
