I want to import two pairs of M&K SS-150 MKII speakers in white from the USA.I cannot find a dealer who will ship them direct so I have a friend who is willing to ship them over for me.After shipping costs and customs i am sure i will still save nearly £400 per pair.

Is there anything i should be aware of regarding the technical side of using them with a UK amp?

No problems at all as they are all passive speakers. You haven't mentioned importing a subwoofer but that would be different as that would need to be converted to run on UK mains.

The only thing to be careful of is in the case of any warranty work being required as we have heard recently about someone who has been importing M&K speakers for resale in this country and the UK distributor will not entertain any warranty work on them if it is needed.

Ian - do you have the details on who had this problem ? I imported some M&K speakers recently and was told that the warranty is worldwide. Also spoke to the UK distributor who confirmed that they will carry out any warranty work if need be.

They work out at about £750 to £800 a pair from the USA dealers.

Thank Gecko and their nice percentage:rolleyes:

If you're thinking about getting white M&K speakers, see what the resell value is- most blokes don't like white speakers.. so you might find it hard to sell them off.

Well I wouldn't buy white speakers anyway (where's that vomit smilie?)

Rags ... I'd be interested where you arranged import of your M&K's I thought I read elsewhere that you've got CS29 Column surrounds ??? I've been in contact with a Canadian retailer who can send them via UPS for £1657.18 for 2 pairs ... This doesn't include any import tax about 9-10% (havent checked this yet) so £1823. I believe the retail value for these in the UK is about 1200 each ... Worth doing I guess !"!"!!!!

Phil - Your deal sucks (sorry!). You should be paying no more than £1200 for both pairs before shipping and taxes (dont forget about VAT). It might be easier for you to take a cheap flight over there and pick them up direct.

The price here is £2400 (ie £1200 a pair).

Phil - Ill PM you the details in a few days if you dont mind holding on. I just want to get a processor sorted for myself before I start giving out details.

I am not sure they ship out of the US though - when I imported my speakers my cousin went and picked them up from the dealer. Anyway i will let you know.
