Importing/Editing using Vegas??

Camcorder is a Sony Digital 8.

I would like to import and edit using Sony Vegas.

1) what settings do I choose for the best quality?
2) what format (avi, mpeg2, etc.) should I be working with?
3) what format do I save to for burning to DVD?

Thanks,
Matt

I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio v4 so I don't know if it's the same settings but this is what I use:

1. You automatically capture to AVI at the best (and only) quality.
2. You should only work with AVI files. Compressed ones such as MPEG will prove tricky if you start editing at frame level.
3. I save as AVI, ready for import directly into DVD Architect. I don't know what authoring package the full version of Vegas uses, so you'd have to check. The reason why I use AVI is that if DVD Architect has to re-size your project files to fit onto the DVD it will only have to compress once. On the other hand, if you import a MPEG into DVD Architect and it needs re-sizing, you'll end up with two compressions - not good.

Hope that helps,
Andy
