Importing a 9800 Pro From The States

The G-Card's selling at about £135 over there. I have a 'friend of a friend' living over there and I'm looking at importing it into the UK for my own (residential) use via him posting it to me.

I want to know if there's a way to avoid the import charges, since I 'could' call it a present as such.

TIA

Dimmy :)

thats not a bad idea Dimmy - i didnt realise they were as cheap as that state side. Is that a general price, or a discount place?

cheers

Which model?

Stay away from the powercolor versions they have nothing but problems (the people I know who bought them took them back).

That was for me, thanx for the advice Erpland. You can find the item on www.newegg.com, it's the Sapphire 9800 Pro 128MB Version (a nice card). Also could anyone tell me if HMEC have any way of finding out the actual value of the card ($220), for all they know it could be second hand?

Thanx again (your advice was better than that of Rage3d anyway)

TOM (the friend)

I would also ask your mates to remove all proof of purchase from the package (customs quite often check the paperwork) your mate could send them seperate in a letter, get them to take off the wrappers and undo the seal from the anti-static bag, this way even if customs knew what it was they cant prove it is new and you can say you paid anything for it from a mate if it came down to it, but it shouldnt get that far.
