Just to let you guys know:
    "Television Stand Model Numbers:-

    VS28PXM VS32PXM VS32PX2

The above stands are supplied for use with the following television
    models:-

    TX28PM1 TX28PM11 TX28DTX1 TX28DTX10

    TX32PM1 TX32PM11 TX32DTX1 TX32DTX10 TX32DTX40

Panasonic UK Has identified a welding problem with the above mentioned TV stands. The effect of this problem is that, in a small number of cases, the stand leg may be incorrectly welded, thereby affecting the stability of the stand.

Although the risk is small, Panasonic UK Ltd has decided that, in the interest of our customers, all relevant stands will be replaced."

So please contact your retailer ASAP.

Oh bugger - that covers my new TV. The stand took ages to put together too.

    Thanks for the heads up.

"We don't want to end up in Court if one of our TV's falls on someone".

Thanks for the warning, Hornydragon!

If it is a stock model then it probably will be affected, if they order from panny (long delays as all stock stands are effected!) then no hope!

Panasonic are replacing all Dealers stock of stands. This process is already in place, and new stands are clearly identified by model number. If your Dealer has received new stock, then delivery to you can be made.

I don't seem to recall a label anywhere on the stand. I guess I'll have to look for it. Sure hope I won't have to take off the tv :p

I threw the boxes away :(

Someone at Panasonic told me yesterday that the new stand model numbers end in "N", but he wasn't 100% sure.

Anyone know if the model number or production number can be found on the actual stand. I've looked but no look so far.

I have the EAN code though. Maybe that has changed?

I find this to be absolutely RIDICULOUS & PATHETIC for Panasonic themselves not to be sure about the model number (something so important that they had to recall the damn thing.).
I mean if they themselves can't give an answer to this model number problem then who can?? GOD???

Just goes to show how poor the level of service is.
    Just my 2 c's worth.

The new stands do IIRC end in N and have a green sticker on the box, retailers are being sent replcements for all customers and stock models but this will take time (it is only the first and last stand in each production run that could be effected), but it is impossible toi tell this without deystroying the stand so all are being replaced as a matter of course. If you have not been contacted by by your retailer by next week, i suggest you contact them, they should come and replace the stand as the old one is to be returned to panasonic so if you bought online it could be awkward.

All good stands have the suffix 'N' and the green sticker as advised above.
The first point of contact should be the supplying dealer. If they are not able to replace the stand (e.g. Internet sales) call Panasonic on..0800 9705445,which is the hotline set up just for this recall. They will arrange for the replacement to be delivered and installed.

    > Why direct from Panasonic?

Cheaper than buying in a store if you know someone.

    > You had better call them, then.

Sent them an email. Was just wondering if there was some easy way you could tell if you have a new one.

I take it you don't mean the stand. Got the new TX-32PX30. It's basically a PD30 in PX series casing. Look great IMO! Slightly smaller than the PX10 and PX20 but still bigger than the PD30. Mounted on the VS-32PXM which is a fairly tall stand it looks massive (for a 32 incher).

Can't say much about the tv other than that as I'm still waiting for my component cables. Quite pleased with it so far though.

It's been almost a month and a half since I registered with both my retailer and Panasonic to have my stand replaced and, despite repeated promises that I would be contacted, I've heard nothing. Does anyone know who, actually, is handling the recall (Pansonic say Comet have been contracted to handle most of it and Comet say it's Panasonic) and how long it takes to get a replacement?
