Saw some screenshots of Mario in Edge magazine yesterday. Can't wait. Was starting to get tempted to buy an XBox but I've just got to have patience and wait for a Gamecube.

Have you not considered getting an import machine? Then you can have it now and the games are cheaper, I am paying between £28 and £32 from DVD box office.

Excellent news. Thought the GC release schedule had been a bit poor since initial launch. One to look forward to though. Plenty to keep me going on the XBOX until then!

Yep, I've used them - I've got used to paying direct import prices though!
Anywhere in America/Canada (i don't trust dvdboxoffice to ship quickly with games after they stuffed me with the GC)

dvdboxoffice don't tend to rush things, plus it usually takes about 10 days after shipping to arrive. The difference for me is that between paying £28/£29 to paying £50/£60.

If money is no object, then buy elsewhere but if you can wait then dvdboxoffice is a good buy, I have used them many times over the past couple of years.

Joined this one topic late but here you go....

    For the console:
    www.lik-sang.com
They give you a JAP/USA machine that can play games from both countries. You change the country with a flick of a switch.

To avoid high impoirt duty askt hem to shalf the invoice amount for you (they will do this but no more).

    CD Universe
Games ship fast and they are reliable.
You only get shafted on customs if they send you stuff in a big box, So order a couple of games at a time and they get sent by envelope.

Finally I have the following games Ihae completed and am seeling for £25 each including postage. All USA versions
    Batman Vengence
    Wave Race

Further to the earlier, I would reccomend Lan Kwei:

    www.lik-sang.com

Another HK based mob, but they are a bit cheaper, and will be more helpful with customs..

They are also reputed to be MUCH more helpful than Lik-sang with any problems (DOA console for instance)

If you are feeling flush go for the Panasonic Q - it is very shiny :)

And it is also a pretty good Progressive scan dvd player. There is a PAL dvd mod coming soon.

    Hi, Alex.

Can't wait for Super Mario Sunshine, huh? :D
I'm going for JPN version which is due out on 19th of July.

I ordered my GC and games from Lik-sang.
And they arrived in roughly 24 hours. That is from Hong Kong!!
I don't think anyone can do it faster. :D

BTW, have you got Biohazard yet ?
If you don't, you should check it out. Seriously.... the best graphics I've ever seen on any consoles and PCs.
It's shame that Capcom didn't bother to utilise 480p progressive mode in Biohazard, but... still graphic's amazing. Maybe Capcom will implement the 480p mode in U.S. release which is due out on 30th of April. :)

    Hi
I've had a good long look at Biohazard down at my local games shop and am indeed impressed by the quality of the graphics. Unfortunately the games have never held my attention for very long. I've played about half of RE1 a third of RE2 and about 2 hours of RE:CV, Dino Crisis and Silent hill.
They just don't do it for me.
I have high hopes for Eternal Darkness but the ropey animation has put me off so far. Apparently this is much improved.

I would have thought that a 480p mode for Biohazad was very dificult as they would have to render (and store) the backgrounds twice, one for each res.

    re mario
Even with placeholders I think it looks great. As long as it doesn't lose any of the fun of just running and jumping then I will like it. At the moment I'm a bit fearful of the increase of plot. I like it as a quick action game which you could dib into.

Are Lik-sang good for american titles or just jap/hong kong?

Lik-sang do do american titles, but it is cheaper to improt from the US directly.

I did seriously consider the Jap version of Resi and Mario will be nearly impossible to resist. I shall resist though, as any Japanese text in the game is a big problem for me. Patience is a virtue.

That is exactly what I thought, and I really wondered about it.

Recently, I've asked AlexWard, a developer from Criterion about progressive scan and how easy it was to implement. (in IGN board)
He responded by saying it was really easy.
(Basically you are flicking a switch...no long days of coding to do this.)
    No extra processing power needed.
The image has already been created and rendered inside GameCube.

Images are rendered in a full frame and then outputted to TVs as a interlaced signal.
Progressive scan support basically turns the output on for a progressive signal.

I still have some doubt on this issue, but he is a developer. :(

    :D
