Hi all, Ive been reading these forums for a while now deciding whether to take the plunge and I finally ordered my dht550 from superfi today.
Anyway the question I have is what sort of charges am I looking for importing r1 discs. Is it just gonna be 17.5% VAT? Imported my iPod from US and got a bill about 2 months later for the import duty which I assumed was VAT? Is this gonna be similar?

When you import a DVD from outside the EU that is over £18 you are at risk of getting customs charges which consist of 17.5% VAT, 4% Duty and Post Office fees which I believe are £4

There is more detailed info on the following thread...

i have found the answer is to have more parcels each less than £18 in value

i have however imported non av things (fishing tackle/clothing) and some kind suppliers will put whatever value you want on the package to avoid duty - the only drawback with this is that if the parcel gets lost in transit you can claim only the stated value eg £18 :(
