Hello, I'm Estefani, a final year law student at UNAM, Mexico.

I'm specialising in International Law, NAFTA/USMCA, EU Law, International Trade, American constitutional law, and British constitutional law.

My final thesis is on the legal, political, economic and social affects of Brexit. Certain chapters of my thesis are about peoples reasoning for wanting to leave or remain, how they feel about Brexit now that it has happened, how leaving has affected people and what direction people want the UK to head in the future, now that it has left.

I have created a fairly comprehensive survey asking for peoples feedback in these areas, which I would like to invite people to participate in, and to open a discussion with British people.

The survey, hosted on Google Docs can be found here:
Brexit Survey

In this thread, if you want to have a more open discussion, I'm particularly interested in how Brexit has affected people, how its affected the businesses you're involved with, whether product availability has been affected, and how leaving has affected social issues.

I really hope you can help me, it will be greatly appreciated.

Privacy and Neutrality Statement (for the survey and anything contributed in this thread):
Because the thesis has to be politically neutral, I've done my best to ensure that the survey comes from a politically neutral perspective, attempting to accommodate the broader views of both leave and remain perspectives.

The survey is strictly confidential, and only information you voluntarily submit will be collected. Data is stored according to privacy standards on Google Forms platform, and will be used for the sole purpose of completing the relevant chapters of my thesis.

In the event that any part of my thesis is published, the results of the survey will be provided in aggregate only, according to UNAM policy, containing no identifiable information even if voluntarily submitted.

Academic confirmed.

Feedback:
With surveys, always specificy approximate completion time, so the person knows what they are getting themsevels into.

Do you believe that immigration will increase or decrease now that the UK has left the EU?

Which type of immigration? EU or non EU? EU immigration is of course decreasing (this is not a matter of opinion, it's a fact) and non EU immigration might increase (this is debatable).

I will add more as I am going through it.

The immigration questions are a bit nonsensical, let me explain why: ALL immigration is allowed into the UK, from any country in the world. There are of course conditions which you have to meet, but nobody is blocked from coming to the UK and living/working 100% legally. You can look up the rules on the UKBA on how it works and what you need to do. So instead of "Do you believe that immigration should be open to (you can select multiple options):" did you maybe wanted to say: Do you think freedom of movement should be allowed from .... select options or something like: Do you think the immigration process from 3rd countries should be eased via a point based for: 1/ the skills we need 2/ etc etc
----
Now to the terrorism questions, they made me giggle and let me explain why: all terrorist attacks or attempts in the UK were planned and executed by British born nationals. If you were thinking of their background, rather than the nationality when asking the question, then also worth mentioning that all of them were born in non-EU countries. So several of your questions are non-sensical there again :)

Education
Do you believe that it is beneficial to the UK for British students to be able to study in other European countries more easily?
It's a fact that it is, this is non-debatable. It's like asking if water is wet or if having more rights is bad. The more education the better, no people have ever suffered from too much education.

--
Do you believe EU investment and projects in British towns and cities was beneficial?
Also, not a matter of opinion. Investment is good, underinvestment is bad.

--
How important is supporting British industry over imports to you?
This one isn't clear to me: british industry might produce something that is exported and not consumed in the UK, it is not all about british cheese vs swiss cheese. I would reformulate this one.

--
You probably need an optional for the Business section, not all responders will have a business or know if their business has had an impact.

--

This one need editing on the answers:
Do you think the UK should trade more with countries outside the EU than with the EU itself?

Highly Disagree

Highly Agree

It took me about 10 minutes to take (20 with writing the feedback here + other interruptions)
Otherwise good, I liked the other questions, simple and to the point, simple answering options makes it flow.

I would just correct the above and have an explanation ready for whoever is checking/rating this work as the questions are as important as the answers.

Good luck.

Much better than the average survey.

Done - good luck getting a straight answer to any question, remember the result in 2016 it was close.

Also the affects of the leaving happen almost immediately, eg: immigration queues at airports, but the replacement for industrial, commercial agreements can take years. So my view is that in a lot of cases it is too early to tell.
