I have been enjoying my Sony HS50 since Xmas ,excellent all round .
Its current situation is 17 ft away from a wall producing an image size
    (width ) of between 8.5 to 10ft .
My new lounge is 28 ft long producing an image of 15-16ft.
This is not possible on the wall in question , but the wife wants the proj tucked away at the back of the room.
1.Can the proj be altered in any way to reduce the image size to say 10 ft.
2.Assuming I change the proj and not the wife  are there any other proj out there
of sim spec , price and quality .pref LCD which would give a smaller image size at that distance.
    regards

I assume you have reduced the size of the image via the silver dial around the lens. Must admit 28ft is f*ckin big room to project from and I think you will struggle with a few pj's at that distance. TBH, I wouldn't change the wife or the projector... I would just say to her the pj is going here i.e. optimum viewing distance, this is the way it is, grab me a beer darling while you're in kitchen, job done :smashin:

Basically, the HS50 is a short throw lens, thus forth, you cannot really get around it. Even a long throw lens would struggle to get down to the size you are looking for.

The only way around this in my opinion is ceiling mounting the machine half way or less.
