    Hi all,

I purchased this Mac back in April this year as a gift to myself before my education discount ran out (was planning on using it for work after I'd finished uni.) AS it stands I think I'm going to stick with my PC (software etc).

It has been out of the box and used once but other than is as new (including wrapping etc). The spec is the slightly higher one:

    3.5GHz Processor
    1 TB Storage

    • 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5
    • Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
    • 8GB (two 4GB) memory
    • 1TB Fusion Drive1
    • AMD Radeon R9 M290X with 2GB video memory
These would normally sell for £1849 but I'd be looking at £1730. No offers please.

Would rather not send this due to its value so happy to exchange in person.

    Many thanks,

    James

    Price and currency: £1730
Delivery: Goods must be exchanged in person
    Payment method: Cash or PPG
    Location: Newark, UK
    Advertised elsewhere?: Advertised elsewhere
Prefer goods collected?: I prefer the goods to be collected

I'm afraid I don't get it, you said you bought it just before your EDU discount expired so, RRP is £1840 and EDU discount comes up as more than £90.
Sorry for asking this but a) I don't get it and b) I am interested

I paid £1759. The price has come down since and the edu price now is £1627. I'm trying to make back what I paid but it is still cheaper than people could get it at regular RRP. If that is in breach of some regulations please do say-as you can see from my listing price I am not trying to make a profit.

I can produce a receipt of how much I paid.

Thanks for looking but as I said I'm not really going to take offers on this. Would rather stick with it than make over a £100 loss on essentially a brand new product.

People are selling brand new apple products less than RRP and you try to sell an opened product for the same amount you bought it which is even higher than the EDUP?
Yes I agree price went down but that's your loss I'm afraid.
As I said, £1535 is max otherwise I will buy a brand new one off ebay.
Thanks for answering my questions though.

I think its in the rules that you cannot sell any item, including Apple gear, for any more than you bought it for. I'm surprised a mod hasn't asked you to provide proof of purchase, they're normally quite strict about these things.

Its a pity though as I would've been very interested only now I know about educational discounts and so I can get my daughter to get me one through her university course. Good luck with your sale.

Yes I know that. What I'm saying is, the item you are selling is now available new at a significantly lower in price than when you say you purchased it. But we only have your word that you bought it at the price you say. Whats to stop you buying it at the current price and then trying to sell it at the higher price? Thats known as "profiteering" and is against the forum rules. In order to show you aren't profiteering, you must produce your original invoice showing the date and price of purchase. Thats forum rules. If you are being straight, then there's no problem.
