I'm thinking of getting a Panasonic VCR NV-FJ780BS (under £150) but can't find any online reviews for it.

If anyone has one what do you think of it?

I'm deliberately not going for an S-VHS video as I need to be able to play tapes on other VCRs and, AFAIK, you can't play tapes recorded on an S-VHS VCR on ordinary VCRs.

    Thanks

Just bought one. I'm generally happy with it, good picture quality in my opinion. But I feel cheated over a couple of features in comparison to my 2 yr old Panasonic :

    a) Tape Library - not as good as it was 2 years ago. we still find it very useful though - mainly due to our disorganisation !

    b) STB Control - my old VCR can change channel on my Sky Digibox but the 780 can't.

If you don't want tape library then you could probably get a decent Panny VCR for around £100.
