I'm thinking of buying a Subaru Forester 2.5 XT.!?

I know it's very ugly , but I'm struggling to get even a very short list together... I don't really want to spend more than about £15K, it's got to big enough for the family (and my windsurfing/bike bits), quick(ish), safe and reliable (Japanese???)...

Other suggestions welcome ...

Probably not a bad choice, although Subaru don't seem to be big on diesel.

I average about 18K miles a year - worth looking at diesels???
