I can cheer you up a bit Ban5hee.

The MD of a supplier phoned me at work on Monday, he knew I was interested in Rugby, and would I like a bit of corporate hospitality to & watch a game of Rugby?

"Thanks" I said, "when are you thinking of?"

"This Friday, England v South Africa in France"

I was to be picked up from home Friday morning, driven to the airport, I would get to 'shake a few hands' of some rugby 'names', then wined & dined Friday evening, watch the game, then out to celebrate (or more likely drown my sorrows), stay in a 'nice' hotel, then breakfast & sightseeing Saturday morning, then flown home Saturday afternoon.

Obviously, I accepted in a flash, then I had the awful realisation that my passport had expired. :( I was going to renew, but as I wasn't planning on going away this year, I thought I'd be a skinflint, and get an extra year out of it, and not renew until next year.

I even phoned the passport office as they do a same day service, albeit at a premium cost. So I phoned SWMBO, asked her dig out the old passports, to which she told me that she'd burnt them  No chance of identity theft at our house!

So there you go. I missed out on an unbelievable freebie, and now it's going to cost me even more to renew my passport too :(

I hope it cheers you up a bit, it certainly has done everyone at work, my friends, and anyone who the wife can think of telling. She's particularly looking forward to a party we've been invited to on Saturday night...

Well i am back ladds . Gort back sunday morning about 1 am absolutely knackered. Tell you what though despite the woeful performance , I would not have missed it for anything. It was an absolute riot . On the coach was a party of Coventry and Cornish ladds ( and lasses) led by Chris a Yorkie ex regimental Sergeant Major of the Royal engineeers who was complete character. Very vocal he brought his guitar and we sang songs, rugby ones and all,all the way their and back( well almost)the floor in the coach was littered with beer cans:D.The driver had never been to Paris so finding the hotel wasnt easy but when we got there we got stuck into the bar and got chatting to some Chileans. They looked rather bemused at us:D
Friday we did a boat trip saw sme of the sites then went to red light district and watched the whores ply their trade. Then we went to the Eiffel tower where we met with a whole bunch of fans from different nations. Another riotous assembly but all in good cheer. Then it was down to the Stade de France where we stood outside for an hour or so singing and indulging in further banter with the SA fans whose main song was "you're **** and you know your it" which proved prophetic really as the match itself was pure pooh!
Sat journey back was the downside coz the coach broke down in Calais the power steering went which meant we had to wait for about 6 hours. Time for more boozing and for Adrian the builder to kick a rugby ball with great intensity upwards inside the terminal. The ball hit a rectangular mesh thing which came crashing down and hit Chris ( The RSM) on the head left a considerable gash on his head.:eek:Chris relabelled Adrian "village"( as in idiot) but they got on like a house on fire- both utterly ******.
    Great occasion!

If ever anyone gets the chance on going on such a trip I would certainly recommend it . A great crack! £300 for two nights, 3 star hotel, coach trip and ticket for match. I was lucky to get mine because someone had dropped out at the last minute.

Glad you enjoyed it LGS, it sounds like just about every rugby trip I've ever been on! Apart from one minor detail... 'watching' pah! I bet! :rotfl:

Well, as JohnG has kindly pointed out in the post below yours, I'm a Derby fan, season ticket holder no less, so disappointment is nothing new!

I'm realistic. I don't expect Champions League, and I was just planning on getting all home draws in the UEFA cup :D :suicide:

Do you get a choice of emulsion or gloss in the Paint Trophy?

well they werent exactly beauts I have to say . One looked like a bloke:eek:The Black gal looked ok, in fact I gave her a squeeze but being as there were two women in our party of six going off with her somewhere wouldnt not have been very sensible besides I doubt I would have been able to stand to attention as I'd had a few more pints by then
