    Evening all

Just wanted to get a bit of advice.
I'm off to Tokyo in 2 weeks and am thinking about picking up a PSP over there.

The only problem I can see is with the warranty ie it's not valid over here. The price is no obstacle is it's supposed to be £100.

Should I go for it or wait until the UK release date (whenever that is)?

If u buy it here (tokyo that is) you will face the same risks everyone else who imports do to.
Only, those who import through a company have some sort of gurantee.
If the PSP is coming to the UK soon, you might as well wait.
Something else to consider is the fact that each region will be locked in terms of movie play back. If you buy a Jp PSP you will only ever be able to watch Jp videos. You would have to import those whenever you wanted to watch one.
Games wise you should be able to play all regions. Unless the UK PSP is somehow different from the US/Jp system.
If you decide to go down the import route, be prepared to follow through with it.

If you're worried about warranty, you are better of buying it here from an import retailer instead, and pay the price premium.

Are you mad ? Buy one over there. You can test it whilst you are out there. If it dosnt work take it back ! If they are £100 I would get one the UK street price is £179.99 and Sony have now set the official release date as 30th of September.

Jap Movies are Region 2, UK movies are Region 2, there will be no playback problems, but may be problems if they are dubbed in japanese with no subs!

Yeah, I was sort of thinking I was mad for even debating it. £100 is nothing at the end of the day.

    Just two things I need to confirm;

Will the import Japanese PSP play UMDs when they are released over here? As a previous poster said, they are region 2 over in Japan so I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

And games - can the Japanese PSP play games from each territory? Could you see this changing? I know the

Thanks for your help, it's all much appreciated.

None of the films I have bought so far have been dubbed.
Actually, they have. But you can just select the original English channel as you would on a DVD. You can also select subs.
I found out that UMDs do have menus after all. Just like a DVD.

One other thing. Jap DVDs are also R2 but wouldnt work on a non MR DVD player in the UK.
Same thing might happen to the PSP.
Cant be sure about this though.
