    I've got £1450 to spend.

I need an LCD, at least 40 inches which will go on my wall.

    I don't want Samsung.

Can anyone suggest a 1080 LCD TV set with the best picture and the most state of the art features.

I want to buy one which is fully loaded and yet offers superb picture quality.

I want it to do what other TVs can't do - like cook dinner :)

    Any suggestions?

What features should I be looking for? What is a must have feature?

    JH

PS: I have to buy it from this site:

that site has no SONY and seems to also not have some of the more popular models, like mine in my sig below.
also you don't want a Samsung.

not sure how you can get the best if you don't get a full choice, but to better allow someone to give you an opinion you best give us more info like size and whether you will connect a PC/Console to it or not? also your viewing habits?

That site can get me Sony but they just don't publish it.

I have to use that site because I have a faulty one at the moment and I can only exchange it with one from that site (includes Sony).

I do intend to connect my Laptop from time to time.

More scarts the better. I have a playstation, a Wii and other stuff.

TV has to be at least 40 inches big.

    What do you suggest?

Can someone explain the difference between the Sony X3000 and X3500.

Also, what is the difference between these and their W series counterparts.

    Thanks,

    JH

The X3000 has black bezel finish which can be changed. The X3500 has grey brushed mettalic finish.Technically are the same.
The X3000/X3500 adds to the W3000 the 100Hz motionflow, the USB input, the increased contrast

Great, I'll have to see how much the X3000 is. I prefer a black finish.

I talked to the shop and they have the X2000 in my price range?

How does that fall short from the X3000?

The X2000 is one excellent model. Its price has come down because of the X3000 series. But the X3000 has improvements that in my opinion worth the extra money

With similar specs to the sony, the new toshiba 42Z3030D which is due out in the next 2 weeks sounds like a great tv and is more likely to be in your price range.

Will any other TV beat the Sony 40X2000 in features other than the higher Sony X models?

    I can't see the 42Z3030D beating the Sony X2000.

Which TV would you say has more features than the X2000?

The 42Z3030 has more features than X2000.The most is the 100Hz and the 24p

So would you say that the Toshiba is actually better than the Bravia X2000?

If so, is there any which is better in features than the Toshiba 42Z3030D?

Maybe the toshiba is actually better than the X2000,but in my opinion one is the key for the X2000.The Bravia Engine EX(The prosessor). It makes SD better. So they may be around the same.Only thing is the 24p...

For gaming, I would go for the X3(5)00.

It has 1080/24 mode, the optimum output for your PS3, and also includes the Bravia Engine EX Pro or something, which greatly improves SD Broadcasts - something I believe the Samsung doesn't have.

You said earlier you don't want Samsung - why?

F86 is a good series though, similar to X3500 I think.

I have a 32 inch Samsung and I find that when you press a button on the remote, it's slow to respond. This is why I'm averse to Samsungs.

It seems like there are many models which have a good feature while another one has another good feature and so on.

So what is SD and 24p? How significant are these things?

Well, it seems like only Sony do the 24p feature and only on the X3000 and above - although I think they do have it on some lesser models in the D series.

I would really like all the features of the X2000 but I need to get the 24p too. So whats a good compromise?
