I've been trying to decide if I should get the AV32R DP, or go for a Meridian 568.2, so I've got a AV32R SP 192 BP for the day, to see if I like the sound of music.
I've used the basic wizard, set-up speaker distances, and used the +/- dB I had set for my 561 (I don't have an SPL meter). Speakers set to limited bass, crossover 80Hz.

Is there anything else I should do/try? Are there any different music settings (this isn't a complaint if not, I just don't want to find I wasted the demo listening at the wrong setting).

    Thanks

How do I set lip-sync delay? There is an option in menu, under change settings, but it won't let me select the option when I have a digital audio input selected. If I change the audio input to one of the analogue options (which I don't use), I can then change the delay setting. But for DVD and an optical digital input (used for sky) I can't adjust it.

if it has the later/est software version you should able to just press and hold the OK/Play on the remote and select 5 Quick Settings, then press ffd/--> to increase the lipsync delay in 10ms steps.

I just checked the AV32 SP manual and the last option is called TEMP TRIMS not Quick Settings.

Thanks, that's fixed it. Now that I've tried the quick method, the menu method has been enabled. Bizarre.

Does everyone use PLII movies for TV etc?

And is direct plus sub the recommended for CDs (where my speakers are small)?

Glad it was helpful, strange that the regular 'change setup' method was not working.

PLII movies is pretty impressive for regular tv/$ky, if you tell the AV32 you have a sub it will automatically use it for PL2 movies/music, the end result is not as good a DD soundtrack but its quite an improvement over regular ProLogic.

Direct or Direct+Sub will be up to you, your room, speakers+sub. If you speakers are full range you will likely prefer Direct, but if they aren't full range then Direct+sub might work well, depends on well your sub integrates. Sorry I can't be more specific but my experience is that sub + stereo is not that easy to get right.

It has to be with sub, due to Bluesky's, I was just wondering if many use the PLII music etc. I don't use direct with my Meridian, I use Trifield, but wasn't sure which to demo the TAG with.

Thanks. If I buy one, I'll spend some time getting used to the direct and PLII music, and choose. I was just wondering what I should use for a demo. I wasn't sure if anyone used PLII music for CDs (or squeezebox, which is what I'll be using too).

I have to admit I have never bothered with the direct modes..hated having speakers not being used :) so its always been one of the PL modes.. its nice having a wide soundstage at the front.. maybe I will try some of the direct settings when my new front speakers arrive !

    Cheers

Try TMA5/7. It is more cultured than PL2 music, which IMHO is quite heavy-handed.
