Pioneer has launched three speaker bar systems at IFA in Berlin.

The three-strong range is headed up by the SBX-N700 and SBX-N500, which have DLNA certification, in-built Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth. The range is completed by the SBX-N300 which has Bluetooth connectivity to stream audio from mobile devices.

Both high-end models support Miracast – an industry first for sound bars – which uses Wi-Fi Direct technology to mirror the content of a mobile device on a TV screen through the HDMI output of the speaker bar.

Geoff Loveday, product manager at Pioneer, said: “Our new speaker bars are designed as the ideal complement to flat screen HDTVs and mobile devices. They are easy to use, simple to set up with exceptional sound clarity and rich bass, featuring Bluetooth as well as video networking with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. It is not just for your TV too, as it is easy to stream music from a mobile device.”

All three speaker bars are Bluetooth-enabled to facilitate wireless audio streaming from mobile devices with Pioneer’s Sound Retriever technology to improve audio quality. The SBX N700 and SBX-N500 can also act as a Bluetooth transmitter and link up to other enabled devices, such as Bluetooth speakers.

The SBX-N700 and SBX-N500 enable the user to link to other DLNA Certified equipment and stream music, photo and video content between devices and there's built-in Wi-Fi capability, to make it easier. Wi-Fi Direct simplifies the Wi Fi pairing process for those without a wireless home network, or for ad-hoc connections for visiting friends.

Support for the new YouTube “Send to TV” function integrated in the YouTube app lets the user pair his mobile device with the SBX-N700 and SBX-N500 to select videos and control playback on a television, through the speaker bar.

They incorporate wide band full-range speaker driver technology and the exclusive Phase Control feature which uses phase matching for an optimal sound image at the user’s listening position.

The SBX-N500 and SBX-300 speakers come with integrated twin subwoofers, whereas the SBX-N700 comes with a separate wireless subwoofer.

In addition to Bluetooth, the SBX-300 offers two optical, one coaxial and one analogue digital input.

All video content going through the SBX-N700 and SBX-N500 Network AV Speaker bar Systems is output to the TV through a HDMI connection. Aside from two optical inputs and a stereo mini-jack, these models also come with a USB connection. The speaker bars can be controlled via Pioneer ControlApp, which is available for free from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. A dedicated app is also available as a free download for Android users via Google Play at play.google.com.

There's also an IR repeater capability, which means that the units will never block the Television but, to be sure, you can also stick them on the wall.

The SBX-N700, SBX-N500 and SBX-300 speaker bar systems will be available from November 2013:

SBX-N700 – RRP: £349.99
SBX-N500 – RRP: £249.99
SBX-N300 – RRP: £169.99
