Beef up your flat panel

Onkyo are showing a new 2.1-channel powered speaker package out in Berlin, designed to improve the audio performance of modern flat-panel TVs; and heaven knows, most of them could use it!

Onkyo has created the LS3100 Living Speaker System, a package that features SRS audio enhancement and Bluetooth wireless streaming technology.

Comprising a slim digital amplifier unit to power the two dual-drive speakers, and an active wireless down-firing subwoofer, the LS3100 comes pre-programmed for control with most TV remotes, with learning ability for the models it might not immediately recognise. This means the Onkyo system switches on and off automatically with the TV, and responds to the volume commands of the television remote.

Two full-range drivers are installed in each sculpted speaker cabinet and removable speaker stands enable a wide variety of mounting positions on the wall or entertainment unit.

Thanks to collaboration with SRS audio research labs, the LS3100 employs TruVolume, a dynamic control solution to equalize the volume fluctuations in TV programming; and WOW HD, an audio processing technology that generates a more 'expansive soundstage'. Dialogue Mode, meanwhile, renders voices more intelligibly in the mix.

The LS3100 Living Speaker System is replete with up-to-the-minute features. Bluetooth Version 2.1 +EDR allows the user to stream music from compatible device, such as most cell phone, smart phone and tablet brands, and a wide selection of laptops and personal computers. T

The Onkyo LS3100 2.1-channel powered speaker package will be priced at £300 and available in November.

Sounds an ideal solution to improving the sound quality from our recently purchased Sonia Bravia TV.

Hopefully a reasonable mix of audio quality (assuming it will give a similar performance to the Onkyo HTX22HDX), but in a much more aesthetic (i.e. wife friendly) package.

Any ideas whether you will be getting one in to test and, if so, when?
