Experience a world of Full HD
The BDP-S185 Blu-ray Disc Player is an affordable way to start enjoying the latest home entertainment without compromising on style or quality.

Browse popular video sharing sites such as YouTube or enjoy TV programmes on BBC iPlayer and Demand 5, watch thousands of movies via LOVEFiLM and access 24 hour breaking news from Sky News through its dedicated connected TV application – all from the comfort of the sofa, thanks to BRAVIA Internet Video.

Soak up the atmosphere
Host the perfect film night at home with the BDP-S185 by choosing films from leading movie studios and sit back, relax and listen to over 7 million songs via the Sony Entertainment Network.

The Blu-ray Disc player from Sony delivers up to 10 times the sound quality and 5 times the picture quality of normal DVDs. You can even upscale DVDs from your collection to near High Definition quality and replay your favorite movie scenes in a whole new light.

Transform the living room
Stylish and sophisticated, the BDP-S185 Blu-ray Disc™ Player will enhance the living space with its compact size - only 290mm wide - and elegant black finish. Share movies, music and photos from a Hard Disk Drive using the USB port. Its low power consumption of just 10 watts and compact size means it's good for the environment too.

“The BDP-S185 Blu-ray Disc™ Player is ideal if you want to take a first step into the future of entertainment at an affordable price,” says James Forrester, Category Marketing Manager, Sony UK. “From watching Full HD Blu-ray Disc™ movies, to streaming the latest on-demand, online services, the entertainment possibilities are endless.”

Reducing environmental impact
The BDP-S185 Blu-ray DiscTM Player demonstrates a significant reduction in environmental impact. It uses 47 per cent less power than its predecessor (BDP-S370) and is wrapped in a unit approximately one third narrower. The smaller size means more efficient transport packing and a lower unit weight, cutting shipment-related carbon emissions by 40 per cent. Its low power consumption of just 10 watts and compact size means it's good for the environment and your pocket too.

The Sony BDP-S185 looks suspiciously like a PS3 Slim?

Apart from the styling, lower power consumption and Sony Entertainment Network features, am trying to work out what distinguishes it from Sony's established 'smart tv' enabled devices currently available

Yes it does look very PS3 doesn't it. According to What HiFi this machine is only going to cost around £80! And remember that's the r.r.p. so a lot of places will be no doubt selling it for even less.

Should mean that a quality Blu-Ray player is now cheap enough for the masses-which can only be good for the format. Well, providing the machine is up to the standards of Sony's other players, although I see no reason why it shouldn't be.
