1405hrs- Revenues are down but airconditioners and white appliances are doing well. Energy management is a big area for the company and they are moving further with this field. They are ranked no.3 for energy efficent electronics. They aim to be number 1.

1406hrs - The tie up with Sanyo means that they can further develop their solar power investment. They are forming strategy partnerships with other companies like British Gas.

Energy management is the ultimate future.

Ok, back again and talking about 3D broadcasting of London 2012. They plan to cover 12 sports in 3D. They plan to distribute worldwide their 3D broadcast material. There are 14 companies already signed up to carry the 3D pictures. This will be the first live 3D games in history and the event always highlights new technology.

As official Olympic partners, Panasonic will be powering the tech used for first ever live 3D Olympic broadcasts. Hopefully it will be more robust than their IFA streaming tech!

Stream is back up for the time being and it's all 'Smart' stuff starting with the Vierra product range. Bigger screens for their LCDs (yay) and PDP's. Development of wider range of apps and connectivity with other devices promised. Confimation that Vierra Connect to be opened up to 3rd party devs. The goal is integrate power/appliance management through the TV. Smart Life!

Fabien Roth is on to demonstrate. He starts with the Vierra Connect Market where you can buy both apps and Vierra peripherals. Software can be saved to SD card. New Social TV icon has appeared allowing use of Twitter/Facebook at the same time as viewing TV. Can use iPad app for text entry.

On to the game Fabien saved to SD card, it's an Online multiplayer capable racer. Looks like he cocked it up but the possibilities are obvious. I feel sorry for Fabien as the demo goes the same way as the old Tomorrow's world demos (remember them! - showing my age!) Red face for Fabien.

Panasonic are really pushing the 'Smart' concept but we can't help feeling they are 12 months late as that was the angle for both LG and Samsung last year. Anyway, Smart Viera is the push at IFA 2011 and hopefully they will have decent Apps to go with the hype.

Last but not least is the Lumix range of cameras and camcorders. The big one for Phil is the new HDC-Z1000 a camcorder with 2D and 3D capture along with professional features in a body no bigger than an EX1 or HVX160. Looks like it could be a big hit and more details to follow when we get the press releases.

There are also two new Lumix lenses being released in the new X range. These are optimised for the sharpest picture quality with motorised zoom and focus in the micro four thirds standard. There will be a 14-42mm and 45-175mm available. they are also optimised for video recording in HD. more details here: http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_...ix+G+cameras/8015136/index.html#anker_8015136

We are just waiting on the press releases landing so we can add some further meat to the bones of what was announced. Oh, and no new TVs?

At the Panasonic booth, visitors will be able to access the 3D Zone and experience 3D products and technologies including Full HD 3D home theatres equipped with the new PT-AT5000E 3D projector, the latest multiple awarded 3D Viera televisions such as the VT30 series, and 3D Blu-ray disc recorders/players and complete 3D home cinema systems. In the heart of the 3D Zone, Panasonic presents an impressive and huge VIERA display wall built with 52 3D plasma displays including the world's largest 152-inch display. In the 3D shooting area visitors are invited to try Panasonic's new HDC-Z10000, the world's first integrated twin-lens 2D/3D camcorder and take some images with the newly introduced Lumix G X Power Zoom Lenses (H-PS14042 and H-PS45175).

In Panasonic's AV Networking Zone, visitors will be introduced to a whole new level of entertainment created through the networking of various AV products around the television. The technologies on display will include a range of applications built for VIERA Connect – a new cloud-based service designed to usher in a new era for television – as well as the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA). Wi-Fi compatible digital cameras such as the newly announced DMC-FX90 are also on display alongside Home AV technologies such as Blu-ray players and recorders, which provide not only content to the display devices but can also provide additional intelligence to the networked solution.

As part of the impressive connectivity monument – with screens lasting up to the hall ceiling - different applications for VIERA Connect can be experienced by the consumer - from the interactive racing game Asphalt 5 played over the internet, to fitness applications and social media applications that allow visitors to watch the live broadcast while they chat online through the latest VIERA TV. Live Music performances will create a festival atmosphere where the onsite and online visitors can enjoy vivid and innovative applications and technologies.

In line with Panasonic's overall company goal of becoming the "No. 1 Green Innovation Company in the Electronics Industry" by 2018, the Panasonic booth at IFA 2011 will showcase energy solutions and green technologies in the Green Technology & Energy Solutions Zone. The zone will demonstrate the Panasonic initiatives which are helping to realise a low-carbon society. Visitors will be able to explore Panasonic's energy creation (solar panels, fuel cells), energy storage (lithium-ion storage battery systems), and energy saving solutions (heat-pump, LED lighting) as well as its home energy-management systems (HEMS). In particular, it will show how energy solutions for the home can be replicated across an entire city; including smart city projects such as the Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town (SST).

Additionally an outdoor exhibition space will be constructed to exhibit Panasonic's Life Innovation Container, a 20-foot shipping container equipped with technologies including a solar power generation system, storage batteries, control equipment and sophisticated communication equipment. This mobile unit is designed to serve as an energy-creation, -storage and -saving solution for use in emergencies or regions without an electrical infrastructure. The area will also showcase how Life Innovation Containers have been deployed in Indonesia and in the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake of March ‘11.

For the first time ever Panasonic will be hosting a live and interactive broadcast from IFA to enable people from around the world to share the Panasonic IFA experience and explore a world of innovation.
The Panasonic Live@IFA broadcast will be hosted daily by Patrice Bouédibéla (MTV Germany) who will guide viewers around the Panasonic booth and introduce Panasonic's team of experts from its TV, Digital Imaging and Home AV product ranges.

Viewers can post a question on participating Panasonic Facebook pages or the Panasonic website, which will be answered live. Every viewer that has their question answered will then receive a link of the video to share with friends. All participants will have the chance to win the latest Panasonic products or a ticket to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
