    Which format would you get?

I know that Sony for one have a 'crossover' product on the way that will be able to make use of both +RW and -RW (and +R & -R)soft/hard ware, but for the purposes of this pole I'm ignoring it:p

Feel free to base your descision on any aspects that relate more to the player features rather than just the software format.

I've put the Philips +RW only because they plan to release a recorder with 5.1 Dolby Digital sound recording (via 6 phono and coaxial/optical input), and I see this as a major development.

Personally, I can't see me needing a recorder in the short term – SKY+ can timeshift and record the other channel, and I never use the VCR at all. I don't own a video camera any more – that may have influenced me to get one had I still had it.

No idea as I find it all too confusing.

I'd rather wait and see what blue laser technology brings along :D
