This was suggested by "Morksbeanbag" in the "Merry Christmas" sticky........

So his idea, he takes all the credit :smashin: .

So lets see what you guys think......

Feel free to link to manufacturers sites for info about the obscure items.

In fact, why not dream up a system that does not even exist......that way you can save all that money :D .

This is a tough one.

Ideally I'd set up a holodeck. Unfortunately the software isn't out there in the form of surround vision hi-def movies, and I don't want to watch flight simulators or Imax documentaries for all time.

I can think of high-end components for a standard HC limited to HD DVD etc, but nothing otherworldy. Yes, blended G90s/Cine 9s or M9500 Ultras would be nice. There's a photo somewhere of about ten 9500s blended to form a 360 degree control tower sim.

It would be good to design a system starting with the room - a proper acoustically sorted auditorium would be great. It's not a case of specifying esoteric materials, but of being able to get the dimensions, layout and furnishings right without having to make do with an existing often too cramped living room, basement, attic etc.

Hi There,

In fact, why not dream up a system that does not even exist

Hmmm....I was thinking of something that directly taps into the brain and stimulates the visual cortex directly....But then i realised i already have a library full of books :rotfl:

Once my system is back up and running and a few tweaks, i will be very happy with it....I already feel the medium is a bit lacking for much more in the way of visual and audiable increases in quality....HD is better, but the whole concept of projected or displayed images is getting near its maximum....I guess in future it may be posible to clearly zoom in on an image, but i'm not sure if that will actualy help tell the story of a film, which to be honest, is actualy the point anyway.

Andy is close to inventing three dimensional, interactive porn.....or sex as the rest of us know it.

A Sony G90 set up in another room with a rear projection screen set up in the wall between the two, maybe a Blendzilla of G90's :D

The best of the best, sir, with honours, sir of all the other equipment needed, HD-DVD, Blueray, scaler, audio.

Reclining armchairs (new, not the old ones I have)

Snack and drinks (beer:smashin: ) fridge

I would buy a real cinema, and do it right. Minor things like focussing the projector, setting the sound levels....

I would buy Barco (The company). Get their top designers to develop a new 9" CRT pj from the ground up with top quality components and new razor sharp tubes. DVI input also. Probably split pack design and remote airflow cooling like Roland's solution for my 919.

Then in a dedicated room I'd have 2 of the above and blend.

I'd also have all the equipment in another temp controlled room with a crestron control or similar to make it go.

The room would be acoustically treated and completely black (bugger WAF).

Audio would be top of range active genelecs and subs (as many as poss) would be Genelec with SMS or DD Velodynes. The audio processor would be top of range with EQ across the spectrum.

Source hidef via HD-SDI into a top of range Lumagen Radience VP (I'd buy Lumagen and get them to make one with 2 HD-SDI inputs and an internal DAC!).

Top of Range Equi-Tech balanced mains solution with every item independantly earthed to same earth (if that makes sense).

Oh, and Scarlett Johansson and Charlize Theron on either side when watching a movie.

Boeing already have this! and next year im guessing Marquee will bring out the new 9500HR...........

..............and blend.

Like your style :D

Andy, what do you mean by Boeing already have this? Do they own Barco? And also, I know you can get HD-DVD and SkyHD with HD-SDI, but I want a universal Hi Def disc player. Lumagen, sadly, will not make a VP with HD-SDI inputs and expect the few, in their opinion, who want this will get external boxes. For me, that will mean a lot of boxes with the external DAC also.

Boeing make a CRT PJ - its the higest resolution I have ever heard of...........

3000x3000 ish SHARP from special tubes - ground up design.

blue ray & HD DVD - Ok, not got that yet but I have a HD SDI HD DVD player.

Lumagen VP could be modified im sure, same guys that did my player........

They really know their stuff.

May your wishes come true.............

But it's not a Barco is it?

...a fully steerable sat dish with universal receiver for every programme stream out there, HD and even SD

...personal access to a server loaded with every HD movie going, in fact when new releases are elctronically distributed to the cinemas, I want in on the stream.

..in fact I want my own Satellite. I believe Homer was once offered one with a RV he couldn't afford. And sharks, I want a tank of sharks with laser beams.

...and those monitoring stations in 'Lost'..I'd like to have an island but with fully up to date AV facilities.

How does Bill Gates stay sane?

2 Barco Cine 9
2 Barco Reality 919
2 VDC Ultras 9501LC
2 Sony G90

all connected to a Blendzilla

so that a comparison between all the 9" can be done !

Terranex scaler
Snell & Wilcox
Crystalio 2
Lumagen

Guys!

I had no idea that BlendZilla had caught on so widely, the notion of it at least.

I have the system I like, I just need a bigger house!!!!!!
