    Ok, heres one for you....

I'm currently building our next home and have a dedicated cinema/music romm approx 16'x13'. The room is to have a projector and 6.1 surround system.

I will be using my Yamaha DSP-AX1 amp and 2 Ruark Log Rhythm subs. I currently have 7 series mission floorstanders, rears and centre but thinking of using them elsewhere and they are a bit dated..

So looking for fronts, centres and rears for a room dedicated to home cinema and music.

Budget of about £1000 and happy to consider secondhand, ex-demo and 'no longer being made' if it gets me 'more' for my money.

What would you get and why?

Three matching second hand M&K S85 speakers for the front and a pair of M&K K4 speakers at the rear - heaven

The Mordaunt Short THX Select system for £999 at Richer Sounds should also be auditioned, but you can't go much wrong with M&K S85's + K4's either.

I have just got hold of a pair of Mordaunt Short THX Select MS506 dipoles, and they sound awesome so far. Especially with multichannel music :D Still have to watch some surround heavy movie soundtracks, but I expect they will also perform admirably :).

Our own hardware classified forum is by far the best place around for buying and selling AV kit but these speakers are like busses and you either have three sets for sale or none.

Anyone any ideas on where I could find 1x MK s85 :lease:
'Someone' had knocked my right front off its stand and the tweeter magnet has become detached and the grill is broken
Funnily enough the system still sounds pretty good (LCR 55 rear VX7 mkII sub)
Out of all the MK speakers to become discontinued why did they pick this one!

    By whom?
If I could get a tweeter it's purely a matter of 'plugging it in' but where could I get one from?

geordie boy: first off i would ask what kind of sound you prefer? brighter, more detailed, or smoother, laid back with perhaps less detail? do you like bang for your buck or a more refined sound?

I suppose none of my music tastes would be described as laid back and smooth, nor my film preferences actually.

I suppose I like a bang for my buck!

tuono - sorry if I'm stepping on your thread mate :p
