If money was no object
Which player would you buy either a Denon 3910 or the Denon A1XV?
Denon A1XV is by far the better player but there are many other players that would tempt me more than these Denons
Have a look at the Meridian G98/91 players very nice indeed, or even better the 800 series.
Was about to say that if money was no object I would be looking at the Meridian players.
I too would also consider the Meridian 800 series too if I had unlimited funds.
If money was no object, I'd have the AX1 and the £4k Denon amp with HDMI switching. Plus I'd hook it up to Sony's £25k Qualia SXRD projector that's 1080p I believe.
Agree with Rob20 entirely. Especially want the big Denon amp! Must go and buy myself some lottery tickets...............
You wanna read the results of the AV Tech lab test on the audio quality of Denons HDMI implementation first mate
Thunder - do you have a link or url for av tech lab stuff?
Sorry mate, I read it in the magazine Hifi News AV Tech supplement. Don't know if they do an online version
I assume its there somewhere
Not sure if it's really a fault with the Denon but more a problem with HDMI audio. Seen the odd post at AVS mentioning it on other bits of kit, not just Denon's. Jitter and reclocking issues.
Mentioned here amongst other things:-
I'm glad someone else said it this time HDMI looks to be to spec, just the spec is iffy! Overall performance can be better however, especially on audio, HiFi Choice sums it up well on the DVD player (top one) but this is MUCH better than the 3910. Re facilities, nothing touches the player
Does the Denon do scaleing for External Sources?
Surely money is always a consideration. No point spending sqillions unless you see / hear a difference!
Unfortunately not, which is a bit of a shame.
I'd still rather have my scaling in a seperate box (bet my four year old tag could give it a run for its money ) HDMI isn't about improved video/audio quality, it's about the studios gaining a more easily implemented copyright system
Jase i'm sure that the Denon is a 1st Class DVD player and it is a shame because it would of made it even more desirable and to be honest i hate the idea of haveing loads of boxes that is also why i looked at the Meridian players as they do have the upscaleing.
I must admit I'm a bit fed up with having multiple boxes so am looking to reduce the amount I've got!. I'd like to have seen Denon put the scaler/deinterlacer from the flagship player into their flagship amp instead.
