If I use 'pre-amp out' - should I lose the inbuilt amps?

    Hi chaps,

About a year ago I bought a Marantz 9600 system (DVD & Amp) and for the most part it's great.

But for some music I want to use the 'pre-amp outs' - when I do so the normal internal amps switch off. Is this correct?

In short I want to use the integral amps sometimes, the pre-amped speakers on their own, or both pre-amped and amped for some head-banging music dvd's.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve

What are you connecting the pre-outs to?

Three Marantz MA500 monoblocks each driving its own speaker.
