Today I have the following kit which I purchased 6 months ago with various member inputs I received. But this was 6 months ago.

    Sony KV32FQ70
    DVD Pioneer A565
    Amp Pioneer VSXD712

    Speakers
    Mission M74i fronts
    Mission M3c2 centre
    Mission M3ds rears

If I were to ask some updated advice for an Amp and speakers since my brother is going down the same road what would you suggest ? Btw he has a Philips 36" Pixel plus and a Toshiba SD330 DVD player and he is looking for floorstanders and an amp with a budget of around 600 Stg excl cables.

For the amp watch out for the vsxd814 it has a very full spec list @ £300
You should be able to pick up M33,m30 and m3c2 for about £300 shopping around but they retail @ £450

I've shortlisted between the following all in the same price range. (200-220 Stg)

    Pioneer D814
    Yamaha RXV540
    Marantz SR4400
    Denon 1804

The DVD player is probably going to be a Pioneer A575.

    Any advice please ?

if he likes the sound of your Pioneer go for the 814. The 575 is well respected on these forums so it seems like a good choice :D

I'm no expert, but is the 575 a significant enough upgrade from a 330 to warrant the expense? Perhaps put the money for the DVD player towards a better amp and/or speakers.
