    Hi
Now this is really gonna make some of you smile...

Have not previously had a vcr since move to new flat (never needed one), so picked one up from Radio Rentals the other day.

Now I know this is a dullard question but why is it that the VCR records only sound, and no picture, from Sky Digital?

The VCR is connected to the Sky Digibox via scart, and the Sky box is connected to the TV via scart also.

The Sky box is outputting RGB since it is massively better than the only other available setting, and the TV Scart is set to RGB also.

I can't use the second scart as this is is use for my DVD.

I guess it's the RGB output, but does everyone out there have to set to the other picture output from Sky's picture settings just to be able to record X-Files like I do?!!

Yours in expectation of a  D'oh! moment...

Now you can see why I want a DVD recorder!

You must have the vcr connected to the 'vcr' scart socket on the back of digibox. It sounds like you might have them the wrong way round. The 'vcr' scart socket allows input and output from your video. The output is only ever composite, regardless of whether you've set RGB on/off. This only changes the output via the 'tv' scart socket.

If that doesn't solve your problem, I don't know what to suggest.

Thanks, but I have got them connected like this.

Update : have found problem. My TV has very peculiar settings sub menus that affect scarts. Just had to set AV setting correctly.

    Thanks anyway.

Not peculiar at all. Many TVs are like that!
