    Hi all.

I need help here as finally I am in a position to go for the best physical positioning set up and am very excited about it.

I am moving from a poky flat to a house with a 16 by 13'5" lounge.

the room has no intrusive doors etc, so can be considered as a perfect rectangle.

My problem is I have never had a clearly defined set of rear channels and have never truly had that front back spatiality that 5.1 or 6.1 should give me, due to the layout (L shaped) of former rooms.

So with a blank canvas, can I have suggestions of how where to position things? I will account for windows and door so dont worry about that.

I have 2 lazyboys and a three seater settee, with an 8ft wide screen and a sony hs10.

I will be using naim audio credo hifi speaker s up front. I have an mk sub, but my main concern is what is the best location for rear speakers?

    behind the listening position?
    above?
    in line facing inwards?

do I use normal, dipole or tripole speakers?

I am expecting to buy new rears, I just havent got a clue what is going to give me the best rear sound for that feeling of 3 dimensions.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Adam

Ok, so if no one knows the answer, does anyone know where I can find some kind of AV FAQ which has the answers on speaker location already listed?

There are never many people around on a warm summer Sunday to anser questions.

There are suitable answers to be found on the websites of Dolby and DTS but I can't lay my hands on a link at the moment.

    lol,

I have no objection to people not replying. It would be wrong to expect an answer.

I just thought with 50 plus views someone would be in the know.

I shall look up those sites you have suggested, thanks for the tip.

    Hi,

What is your budget for your surrounds?

    hadn't really considered a budget.

to be honest will consider anything so long as it does the job.

Haven't really cut corners on the rest of the system so to speak, just chose what worked well given the limited acoustics of the room.

I suppose I would consider anything up to £1000 so long as it did the job and did it well.
