Another disc with great bass is R1 The Haunting, and that was only the DD version, the DTS version is meant to be even better.

I agree! It's just about the best bass I have heard in a movie on dvd ever. Lets hope Fox keep up the good work. But with the trend that they are on at the moment, ie. Alien Legacy, The Abyss, ID4, Fight Club, I'd say that this is a winning formula and that they'll stick with it. Fingers crossed!

The base at the start shook my windows with my new sub recently and that was THX VHS.
God knows what the DVD version will do.

Interesting, both my friend and I were saying how lacking the bass was, considering the amount of explosions, etc.
(This is on the R1 DVD)

I'll have to have a play around and see if I can improve it without screwing up my settings.

    Cheers,

Try "Blown Away" (w/ Jeff and Lloyd Bridges), not the best movies perhaps (though I do like it) but terrific bass and good surround effects, like the thunder at the beginning.
Interesting is the slow increase in the bass during the finale where the orchestra and explosions are mixed.

    Blows you away ... [IMG]

Oh, and MiB should also offer that, at least the pirated DVD copy (from LD) had a very good bass, check out the fan when going into the underground office and the crash of the space ship after it gets shot down! WOW!
