    Hi all,

I really enjoy looking at pics of all the fantastic setups on here so thought I'd share my (admittedly not fantastic) one.

    Currently kit is:
    Samsung LE32R74BDX 32" LCD TV
Sharp 2.1 speakers (from an old Hifi)
    Nintendo Wii
Mac Mini (Intel Core2Duo) with 2TB of USB storage
    Marantz SR4200 AV Receiver
    SkyHD

Here are some pics of the setup as it is now:

All feedback is welcome - things are still a bit untidy as we only moved into the house a couple of weeks ago and, since I was going to be ordering new stuff soon anyway, never bothered to really tidy up.

Happily I ordered some new kit from Sevenoaks today:

    Onkyo TX-SR706 AVR
    Monitor Audio RS1 speakers
    Monitor Audio RSLCR centre speaker

and will be getting a new TV (probably the Samsung 40" LCD with the rose-black bezel) over the weekend hopefully

Once I get the new kit I'll upload some more pics!

Comments welcome :smashin: be gentle :lease:

    Cheers,

    Ian

looks like a good amount of gear in a small space, nice to see people posting something other than complete rebuilds of their spare room - however tasty they might look!

Thanks man. Yeah it's not a massive room and because the stairs are in the front room it's kinda awkward. We only moved in a fortnight ago so things are still a bit "all over the place" but we're getting there

    Cheers,

    Ian

Ah hah but I specifically took shots from a certain angle so you couldn't see quite how untidy it was ;)

Thanks for the comment though :smashin:

    Thanks :smashin:

Yeah really pleased with the stand - got it from allcam. They have a centre shelf too (would be above my centre speaker where that thin black band is) but when we got the stand that shelf was shattered. Allcam sent out a replacement the next day (can't fault them for service) but we were impatient so built it without and actually preferred it. Our TV is mounted quite low on the stand considering how high it can go.

We'll be replacing the TV soon (hopefully tomorrow!) so that one may be a bit higher (placement depends to an extent on where all the sockets are on the back of the TV. Will be putting new photos up when we've got the new gear.

    Cheers,

    Ian

Okay folks, got some new kit - TV I managed to get on Wednesday (got it originally Saturday but that one broke on Monday  turned out to be a right faff in the end but hey-ho) and I picked up my new speakers and stands this morning from Sevenoaks in Cambridge. Receiver is still to come but Onkyo are struggling to supply (the TX-SR706) at the moment apparently.

    New kit:

Samsung LE40A656 40" LCD TV (1080p, 100Hz and rose black finish  )
    Monitor Audio RS1s speakers
    Monitor Audio RSLCR centre speaker
    Atacama Nexus 6 stands
    QED bi-wire cable
Oh and an optical cable for my Sky+HD box (since, ludicrously, the Sky box doesn't output proper audio through the HDMI port :thumbsdow )

Some photos for your enjoyment

As I said, still waiting on the new receiver. Then a good tidy up with some proper cable management and my work is complete for the short term.

Ultimately I want to get the TV mounted on the wall and get a less wide AV rack for the kit.

Hope you like, comments are welcome :smashin:

    Cheers,

    Ian

Great TV, I have the same 40" model as that and I love it! I also have a Marantz SR4200, a quality amp for the mere £240 I paid for it 6 or 7 years ago. I have just ordered myself a new Marantz SR6003, still waiting on it though.

How does the Marantz sound through the Monitor Audios?

Thanks mate, yeah I didn't think the new gear would be that much better but I can't put into words how much better it is :D

The software is called Plex - it's a fork of the XBMC (XBox Media Center) project and is exclusively for Mac OSX (think it only runs on Leopard).

Homepage is Plex Media Center for OS X and I can't recommend it highly enough. Plays 1080p stuff beautifully and I haven't found an audio or video format it can't handle!

Size isn't everything mate (or so the Missus constantly tells me  )

Yeah can't recommend the media centre stuff enough - all our DVDs (TV shows and films) are ripped and so as well as making it a doddle to pick something to watch also means no DVDs lying around :smashin:

Heh heh, bought the Marantz from a mate at work for £40 about 8 months ago and have been really pleased with it. The speakers sound great through it - although they need to be run in they're a hell of a step up from the (admittedly less-than-average) speakers I had before and the receiver is handling things quite nicely. Can't wait for the Onkyo though - auditioned the B&W 685s and the MA RS1s with a Denon 1909 first and they both sounded great. Then the guy at Sevenoaks had me try the Onkyo and the difference really surprised me. Ultimately was a tie between the speakers (but they couldn't get the B&Ws until mid March) but there was no contest between the receivers.

    Cheers,

    Ian

Thanks mate, yeah we're pretty pleased :) Think we're gonna redecorate (ie paint the walls at least) but only moved in a few weeks ago so still settling in.

VCR is crucial! It's got a clock on it ;)

Lol first gen Sony Bravia 720p 40inch V series LCD TV with ONE HDMI input which cost me £1800 in 2005! RRP was £2500 at the time though! So thought I had a deal at the time! How times have changed

Tell me about it - the 32" Sammy I had before this one cost only £100 less a couple of years ago. No doubt this one will come crashing in price now I've bought it (always seem to time things just wrong :suicide: )

    Cheers,

    Ian
