Earlier this year I bought the Bose soundtouch 300 and the acoustimass subwoofer.
To be host I was quite disappointed. The sub was powerfull but boomy and some how disconnected to the sb300, so I returned i.
I have friends with Sonos and I do like the sound from songs, but lack of DTS has always been a dealbreaker for me.
I have around 100 of films I have ripped to HD sound and most of them is DTS. I know Plex media can transcode, but I think Apple TV can aswell if I select dolby digital 5.1 as option in sound setup.
Today I have a B&W XT2 5.1 setup on a Marantz SR7010 with a SB2000 SVS subwoofer. I do not expect similar surround with a Sonos setup (Playbase and I might go for play 1 as rears or maybe play5 v2).
But by today setup mostly is used for television and Netflix/hbo and just looks big and heavy in my small tv room.
I like the simplicity with a sounder and now I like the sound from the playbar - I think playbase is on par with the bar.
A Sonos setup will be used every day by the hole family and not by like my B&W/Marantz setup.
I really love Sonos software as it is simple to use and constantly updated.
But I would like to hear from other users who has quit traditional 5.1 for a Sonos 5.1 setup and what the upside and downsides it brings
