This is an upgrade help thread, but first let me set the scheme.
I have just reached my fifty third year, I’ve been gaming since my dad purchased my first ZX Spectrum in the 1980’s, but I assumed my desire to play computer games would start to wane as my 60’s approached, I didn’t need to upgrade anymore.
My ageing i5 2500k and GTX1070 would see me out, I only gamed at 1080p and I could always use GeForce Now or other streaming service if some great new game came along.
However, my wife has spoilt this she bought me an Oculus Quest 2 for my birthday, I played table tennis, crazy golf it was great, but streaming from my PC the limitations of the i5 2500k, Asus P8Z68-VLE motherboard and GTX1070 , became apparent.
I needed to upgrade again, I have a Fractal design Define R3 Low Noise Case, SSD’s and 750w Bequiet PSU that I am hoping to keep. I am not paying silly money for a new GPU just yet, the 1070 can last a bit longer.
So. I’m looking for a recommendation for a motherboard, CPU, cooler and RAM bundle that will play nice together, does not sound like an aeroplane taking off and will not bottleneck a new GPU in maybe a year’s time. I am happy to s £800-£900 if I need to.
I know these threads get a bit boring, but if anybody is willing to give me a few pointers that would be great.
In the past I purchased pre-builds and upgraded GPU and RAM as they got old but decided to see if this was a better route.
Thanks in advance if anybody want to help.
