What do i need to set all the setting to i have an Onkyo 605
1.Try this, Settings - BD/DVD Settings -BD AUDIO OUTPUT FORMAT(Optical Digital) then select bitstream.
You will get a warning that some portions of audio may not play.
Then just make sure that on SOUND SETTINGS - AUDIO OUTPUT SETTINGS you have selected - DIGITAL OUT (Optical) then ticked Dolby Digital 5.1,DTS 5.1.
2. BD/DVD Audio Optical Format (HDMI) LPCM.
Receiver settings post here.
I have a PS3, Sony LCD 40" and a Pioneer 1015 Amp. I use the PS3 to watch a bit of bluray and have it conected to the LCD via HDMI and to the amp via optical as the amp does not have HDMI.
Can any of you tell me if i am missing out on much on the bluray audio sondtrack on movies as it is going through optical and not HDMI.
Is it worth buying another amp just because of the HDMI audio will i notice any diffrence between them?
I have the Kef egg speakers if that helps.
Your missing out on HD audio, which to me is just as bigger upgrade as the visual improvement high definition movies give you.
Once you've listened to a PCM/TrueHD track from the Ps3 you won't want to go back to regular DD.
Amp advice,try here.
Can you listen to this TrueHd via optical though as i was told I couldn't?
Correct you can not listen to true hd through optical
How can I get Hd sound from my PS3 then?
Only via HDMI as PCM. You will need an amp/rec that support HDMI connection.
Through the HDMI as LPCM to a amp/recevier that supports HDMI inputs ..sony http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProd...geType=Main&category=HCS+Home+Cinema+Receiver
