    Hi,

I'm looking to replace our ageing 4:3 CRT with a 32" widescreen CRT as they seem like a bit of a bargain now.

Which makes/models are considered the best? Price is an issue, but overall performance and quality are more important factors.

    Thanks,
    James

    Aloha!

I’ve got a Loewe Vitros 32” that I will never part with (until it keels over dead).

Having seen more than my fair share of flat panels, I’ve yet to see anything that comes close to the near-3D images we get to enjoy every day. It’s not that cheap for outdated technology, but until HD comes (and we all get old waiting), I’d confidently sit it next to any 32” plasma or LCD and feel very smug and superior!

Still a lot of life in decent CRTs IMHO…

    Cheers!

I find the price a little hard to believe, I was in comet earlier and saw a 32" samsung slimfit non HD CRT TV priced at £490, the online price is £428

If they can do a HD version for £350, I'd be quite tempted as the picture qualty on the instore slimfit was pretty good.

i checked samsung.de for a press releaseon the new hd crt. It seems this model will be labeled in Germany (& rest of Europe?) as WS-32Z409. Looks like it's getting an April release for the price of 899 euros. That to me seems like a more reasonable price for a "hd ready" crt

Philips has one also being released next month 32pw9551 and labeled as "hd prepared" Not sure what that actually means:confused:

Thanks for the advice so far. Apart from the Toshiba and the Loewe, are there any other recommendations for non-HD/slimline CRT's?
