Just started using component cables for the first time as I 've recently 'upgraded' my DVD player (Pioneer 717 to a Pioneer 575a). I'm connecting it to my trusty old Tosh 40WH08b via 'component cables'. Two things....... The aspect ratio swithces between 4:3 and 16:9 with no problems at all. Even with a mixed ratio DVD that I did myself causes it no problems to switch between the two when going from one title to the next. How is the WS signal being sent? No scart connected just a coaxial audio cable. Also, why am I getting superb picture quality when I'm using 'out of the box' cheapo phono cables (audi ones at that!). Better than my previous 717 which was using an IXOS RGB scart. Old AV Myths? or is the 575 really that much better than my 6 year old 717?
