While finally screwing a double mains socket to the wall after a living room rebuild (and putting a socket behind my hifi gear) something shorted behind the socket and tripped the house power.

I sorted the problem with the socket but since powering everything back on, the amp won't sync via HDMI with anything... Just comes up with "not support" on the amp's screen.

If I plug the tv straight into Sky HD its fine. I do get sound via fibre through the amp.

    I love my amp :(

So assuming the HDMI board is knackered in the amp is this realistically an economical repair?

Considering this was my fault is this considered an "accident" in terms of house insurance?

Any advice on fixing my problem would be appreciated. :lease:

You'd get more response if you gave us more amp details

If its from the arc and you bought it from a car boot for 10 bob then bin it

Whereas if its a top of the range unit then that's another story ;)

Erm, forgive me but I thought it was pretty standard to have your gear listed in your footer/signature.

It's a Pioneer VSX-LX70 bought from new along with the LX70A BD player @ £1k each

It may be but I'm on an iPad sat outside at a sunny bar in Tenerife lol and can't see your sig contents

If you love it then get it repaired but don't expect your house insurance to cover it especially as it seems it was your fault :(
