    Hi all,
after a few weeks reading up....trolling round the shops for days on end,i think i've made my mind up.

Here's the update....i've got about £1600 for a 37"plasma, then i want either a nice floor stand from alphason or i want it fitted on the wall.Been back round the shops today and decided i like the pw7 more than the rest.Problem being im a bit of a noob.Richer sounds are gona do me this.

    panny 37pw7
    panny tupt600 tuner box
    panny tuner board
    panny home cinema

All for my budget, then i just need a floor stand or get it wall mounted.
Surely this must be a good buy....am i right.

What i wanted to know from you good ppl ...is the above kit half decent. And also can i mount the screen on an internal stud wall as long as it's on the studwork.

top choice but what do you already own? the tuner box is none too clever and £££££ so if you own, purchase the right kit you want need tuner box.

I to have been looking at getting a Panny Plasma. I was all set on the 42", but thought it might be too big, so started looking at the 37".

    However......

My existing TV is a 33" 4:3 - the actual screen size is 660mm*500mm

A 37" Plasma is 818*461 - So I would end up with a slightly smaller height TV picture....so less of an upgrade there !

A 42" Plasma is 920*518mm - which as you can see is slightly higher (and wider of course)

    So it's a 42" for me.

Dont get the media box , its a nightmare !! Get a component board and scart board (or what ever you may think you need)

I learnt the hard way , just got shot of my media box last week , It disables Picture In Picture, Picture Postion/Resize , screensaver ! I could go on but I dont know the full list of stuff it disables !
It was ok for dvds & tv but if you plays games forget about it , alot of games dont take up the full screen even set on 16:9 (inch black borders down the side) , this is where picture resize comes in very handy!

    What restraint!
Can't you rest it carefully on the floor (I used my yoga mat for the first week - very good anti-slip qualities!) and connect at least your PC via the VGA?

don't want to risk it with mrs.jtf and 3 children running around. i think i might cry if it got broken. it's taken 18 months to talk mrs.jtf into thinking that getting a plasma would be the third best choice she has ever made. me and the children being the first 2!!!

I have had the plasma taken out of the box and kept it standing on the 3 ' cardboard thingies ' to which it is attached in the box for more than 2 weeks until I hung it up on the wall, no harm done. No kids in the house though :D

p.s. I have a universal wall mount for 45 quid here in Amsterdam, it works just fine, no need to buy the original Panny's.

i'll be getting the mount from av sales aswell. but the wait will be worth it when its connected up with all new equipment denon 2805, canton cd50 6.1 and mark grant cabling. just hope mrs.jtf doesn't find out how much i'm spending considering all my current gear is only 9 months old
