Im trying to make my audio components connect to my tube amps. I want to convert 5 optical conections into dolby surrond rca style output and be able to switch between the optical imputs, or maby even auto switching if possible. I got a preamp and poweramp so i dont want them built in. I think its called a digital decoder?
What you need is a digital decoder, they come in DD and DTS forms, the former is probably the most interest to you. They al have volume controls which means you will have two volume controls in circuit. Also the number of optical inputs will be 'limited' and there an additional switch box is what you will probably need. Most were made in 1997 / 98 era and therefore will be a secondhand purchase but they are quite cheap now.
