    Hi,

We have a new tv - panasonic pz81 which has integrated freesat and freeview and an all in one speaker/blu-ray system the panasonic bt100

We want to keep our sky+ at present (hedging our bets for HD!)

Can anyone tell me the best way to link the tv, sound system and sky+ box together so that I get surround sound whilst either watching freesat/freeview or sky+

I need to be guided step by step and told which type of cable needs to go where, sorry!

The sound system has 1 optical in/out, aux audio (red/white), fm ant, s video out, and other video outs and 1 hdmi port

The sky+ box has all the usual connections plus an optical port

The TV has audio out/in,av1 scart(rgb and video),av2 scart(rgb, video and s video), 2 x hdmi, digital audio out and pc socket

Sorry for being a big numpty but any help would be grateful:)

    You need a optical switch.

Connect both your TV's and sky+ optical output to the switch then the switch to your optical input to your Bt100.

Connect Sky+ via scart to TV and your sound system via HDMI to the TV.

You will need to be patient with me cos I am slow on the uptake:rolleyes:

Are we saying I need an optical lead from the tv and sky+ box into the optical switch and then this switch is attached to the bt100 via another optical cable?
So I would need 3 optical cables in total? Is that correct or have I totally misunderstood you!

thanks for your help. Just a couple of things. When I switch from watching sky+ to freesat will I have to adjust any sound settings manually or will it automatically do it? and what kind of optical leads should I get? They vary so much in price. Does this really matter or are they much and such the same.

who knows..if you dont like the sound, then yes, you'll have to change the settings, but i doubt it to be honest.
as for optical cables, any will do really, as long as its of decent build..if it works it works..

Sorry didn't explain myself properly. What I meant was if I move from viewing freesat to sky will the speakers work and have sound without having to do anything other than move from freesat to sky?

Its a manual optical switch, so you would have to manually adjust the switch to match what you want to listen to.
