That's interesting - what shop do you use to get them to price match? Most of the stores by me seem to operate as a cartel... :(

Gamestation always seem to charge exactly the same, as do Virgin, HMV, Woolies etc... never heard of the other two, I assume they are local independant stores? MVC used to offer a few good deals... but look what happended to them... go figure!

There's nothing special about this, retailers have to replace faulty goods by law.

I tend to find that Game varies radically from shop to shop. For example there's two Game stores in my town - in one they're all very helpful, polite and knowledgable... and in the other they're quite the opposite and just spend their entire time trying to sell me FIFA Street.

I doubt very much HO authorises sales of games early, simply because they can be fined for doing so or get into bother with the suppliers. Regarding Game im sure if a POLL was done on peoples perceptions of how good the stores/service is it may not be an overwhelming success story.

Heck even the staff arnt meant to get the games early but im sure this sometimes happens depending on the store manager.

My friend works in a HMV and gets a cool 30% off software though hes certainly not allowed to get them earlier than release date but does get me the odd game at staff price.

Yes Game allow returns/exchanges thats the only advantage if you dont mind paying a little extra for this service. As for trade-ins = RIP OFF from any experience ive had.

Rubbish. Sorry windtalker but that simply isn't true, and unless you work for them (which I'm starting to suspect you might), you would never be privvy to that kind of information.

Regarding the early releases, if what you are saying is true, then it is a highly unusual practice as I have no knowledge of any GAME stores which would allow new titles to be released before the official release date, even if it's only a day early. I know my local GAME stores have never done so.

GAME are usually very strict on release dates.

I work for game and stores do sometimes break release dates and the procedure is as stated.

The store must go out and buy the game from the competition to get a receipt to show the time and date then phone h/o who will either say yay or nay but it depends on the title and competitor as to whether they go or not.

I understand peoples dislike of game but it is on a branch for branch basis I consider myself to be good to anyone who comes through the doors ( but I have worked in the industry for 14 years at every level from independent up).

I am sure we have a few guys here who have shopped in my store ( well when I was the manager before I went part-time)

Do you get discounts on consoles if you work in GAME. With PS3 out in November does it mean that get a discount on the machine in they ordered one?

It is good that game are releasing launch day consoles as it is pass the 90 day return which means that surely it should now be up to Microsoft

If another shop in their local area breaks the street date, Game as a rule will follow suit. Have got games early many times.

i too have bought many games from GAME which have been released a day or two early. It is not uncommon. YES the store/s doing this would get into HUGE trouble should sony/microsoft or any other publlisher discovered this was happening but the fact is it does happen.

If this is the case then it shows just how low the company will stoop, rather than reporting the offending competition they just decide to go along with doing it too. Ill never shop in Game again after the crap they pulled with the X360 and PSP hardware bundle deals, the company just sucks, love it all you want.

Regards your account on live just retrieve your account and see your download history, LIVE keeps a record of everything you download anything paid for previously will be free.

Newcastle and £40-42 for new games, must be price matching grainger games . .

2nd hand games are 30notes too

Metro Center per chance ?Game staff in these do not seem to care much about profit.
