Try doing some relaxation routines. Try this for ten minutes whilst laying in bed. Put your hand on your stomach and breath in slowly through your nose, as you breath in your hand should rise, the goal is to breath into the stomach. Hold for a few seconds and breath out, be aware of your hand raising and falling as you breath in and out. This is called "Diaphramatic breathing" it uses much more of the lungs than normal breathing and is what proffessional singers use to sing correctly. It has the added benefit of slowing down the breathing rate and greatly relaxing you. You can use this if you feel stressed in any situation. It feeels strange at first trying to force the stomach out and in as you breath but it does calm you down.

Funnily enough I am a Psychiatric nurse and I know all about relaxation techniques but I just guess it’s a case of do as I say..... Thanks for the advice though, guess its time to start doing what I preach!

I do sometimes, if it gets bad, take 1/2 a nitol which does the trick but I have run out and it was way to late to take it by the time I realised I wasn't going to sleep, if I had some.

You mean you didn't watch the cricket instead?

I go through periods like this myself... 2 or 3 weeks, where I don't fall asleep until about 5.30 am (for some reason).... it quickly wears you down! :(
Hopefully, you'll be sleeping like a baby come half ten tonight.! :smashin:

i had nearly no sleep last night as well.

about 8pm yesterday evening i had a quick lie down on my bed, as i wasnt feeling too great. i closed my eyes for a second or so, then opened them, and nearly 2 hours had gone by. really annoys me when that happens!

i went to bed at 1am, which is usual for me (i dont need much more than 6 hours, and i always get drawn into whatever crap is on tv) but this time i just didnt sleep at all. i was very tired, but as soon as i got into bed i felt fully alert. when i realised i wasnt going to get to sleep (it was 4am) i started to read a book for a couple of hours. think i finally drifted off at 6 ish, for about an hour.

felt terrible this morning, could barely move. was really a struggle to do anything

however have been feeling perfectly normal since 9am. i dont think ive had any tea or coffee yet today either.

guess thats the good thing about still being quite young, eh? :D

I am so glad I am not the only one who didn't get a good night.

I seem to be holding up well. Done a couple of visits and managed to get 20mins in my colleague's car while she visited someone. Smoked about 20 cigs so far but ho hum, it's keeping me going

Cheers, but it's Lennon and McCartney you need to thank. Check out "I'm So Tired" on the "Revolver" album. Top tune!

Funny thing was i had the same problem last night. Ended up staying awake for 6am room service breakfast.

Maybe it's to do with the moon..........(cue strange gargling noises, screams, and then the howl of the werewolf)

Well, did I sleep last night or what!

I did have a really strange experience though which I will try to explain.

I went home from work around 3pm (normal time) and when I got home got into bed. The misses was off, as she wasn't feeling very well yesterday so we both fell asleep. I woke about an hour later feeling very light headed and had a feeling of being split in 2 i.e. literally coming apart down the middle. This really started me to panic and I couldn't shake the feeling for a minute or two. At one point I thought I was going to faint. Every time I closed my eyes after that I had a strange feeling of a 3-ton log sitting on my head, which again started me to panic. I had to start relaxing my breathing and giving my self reassurance that this feeling will pass in time.

All in all the whole experience lasted about 20 minutes and was one of the strangest things that has happened to me with out the use of mind expanding drugs (had a bit of a colourful life in my late teens early 20's)

Thinking about it more I have come to the conclusion that I had a Hypnagogic hallucinations, which induced a panic attack (which I have never had in my life!)

Anyhow after all that and good nights sleep I am back to normal.

Thanks guys for keeping my spirits up during the day!

    Ben

I know what it feels like

For some reason every time I have to travel from Manchester to London (or vice versa), I can't sleep a wink! Consequently I go through train stations and the underground half awake. Really strange experience - like you're not quite there and all the noises aren't there "there" - sort of like speakers or a tv. When I came back down to London on Wednesday, I took the northern line thinking I was heading south. About 5 stops go by and I'm in Finchley!!! Not even funny, wasted about 25 min. Felt really stupid it didn't click every time the station I was at was announced :suicide:

Sounds alittle like fatigue. I would suffer sleepless nights, its worse when there's no work. The thing is, I do get a little sleep at night, maybe 2-3 hours. I might not fall asleep till 7 am and up again at 9-10am feeling light headed almost as if I had taken some sort of drug the night before. When I have to go to work early I don't get any sleep. My record is 4 days without sleep and sleeping on the 5th night:rolleyes: In saying that, its was a long time ago, but I would suffer without one full nights sleep evey month.

The worse thing is as you know when you have to go to work the next day, and all you want is that 1 hour of sleep thinking that it will cure everything, but its amazing how little sleep you need.

Don't know why I don't sleep, cause I'm not worried about anything. Infact I am totally chilled out at night. Well, theres a little frustration from boredom.

There it is, I'm a werido.

I find it hard to sleep aswell, very rarely have a solid nights sleep without waking up a fair few times, that's if i can even get to sleep at a descent time. The worst thing is after a bad's night sleep, I can barely get through the day at work without wanting to sleep, get home and fall asleep for an hour and then that's it for the next night can't get to sleep then either. Have to make sure I stay awake until it's night to try and get a decent amount in.
