I just noticed this morning that I haven't bought an abum in ages, I used to buy at least 1 or 2 a week, so I've worked outIi either have every album that I would ever want (which I'm sure I don't) or there is absolutely nothing exciting being released at the moment.

Can anyone suggest some new exciting Metal or hardcore to get me back excited about buying music?

I was thinking the same thing the other day, in fact me and a friend at work (also into metal/hardcore) were commenting how there's nothing new around at the moment.

I think the last CD I bought was the new Dillinger Escape Plan album (it's good if you don't have it by the way) and that came out quite a while a go.

So I can't help unfortunately, but if someone has any ideas I'd loke to hear them too.

Ditto. It seems the music biz has successfully move the 'yoof' onto indie, rap and pop again, snuffing out the market for anything decent rock or metal wise.

Where's Karkus when you need him! ;)

It's nearly a year old now, but have you got the new (self titled) Wildhearts album? Very good stuff.

As is the Pixies Acoustic DVD if you fancy a change. :)

When in doubt go cross genre or look at the "stuff for under a fiver" on t'internet. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The latest Hundred Reasons album (Quick the Word, Sharp the Action) also has some great tracks on it but doesn't necessarily fit your metal/hardcore gap. There's always a new Sick of it All record each time I look so maybe have a look there. Or some of the more obscure stuff in the UK - I'm a big fan of Ignite who are quite hard to come by over here. :)

The only music I've bought in the last year (I think) has all be old stuff that I'd only got on cassette or vinyl. I look on Amazon a lot and there never seems to be anything new coming out that's of interest to me.
There is a new album out by Serge thingymebob the lead singer of System Of A Down which might be interesting.

New metal/hardcore bands? I'm finding loads of new music at the moment, as well as releases by established artists. Try this little lot:

Ministry - The Last Sucker. Their final album, and what a way to go…
Baroness - The Red Album. For fans of Mastodon, Neurosis, Isis.
Gohst of a Thousand - This is Where the Fight Begins. A much better option than the massively overrated Gallows
Alabama Thunderpussy - Open Fire. Southern blues-y metal, raw and in your face
Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works. Stunning.
Future of the Left - Curses. Angular punk-y art rock noise with top lyrics
High on Fire - Death is this Communion. Heavy as a heavy thing. Think Slayer/Motorhead with a dash of Sabbath
Municipal Waste - The Art of Partying. Old skool thrashcore crossover.
Taint - an incredible UK band. Mixing up hardcore, stoner and early Nirvana
The Sword - the spirit of Sabbath is alive and well.

I think these were actually 2 of the last albums I bought.

Ghost of a Thousand are excellent live by the way, i've seen them about 3 or 4 times now

If you've got a DVD (preferably DVD-A capable) player connected to some decent speakers (preferably 5.1), try Metallica The Black Album on DVD Audio.
It might be a bit tricky to find, but I managed last December for £20.00 on e-bay.

:hiya: Ire Works has already been mentioned. Im really not sure about it, its the mix of styles. When you listen to previous DE albums they have a natural balance within all of the tracks, Ire Works seems to have gone more mainstream in places and it somehow spoils the flow.

High On Fire has already been metioned, but I prefer the previous album Blessed Black Wings.

Machine Head-The Blackening is pretty good although it is also slightly disjointed.

I'm still heavily into Battles-Mirrored (totally not hardcore though).

If you like a bit of Doom/sludge the Boris-Pink is worth a listen (not sure if it is available in the UK).

I have been pretty disappointed with the music in 2007, maybe I am not searching hard enough.
