i have sub hum on 12vdc amp and sub!

    i bought a car bass tube and am runing it off a 12vdc trasformer and its pretty good quality

    the sub hums oly wen i have the phono inputs in, its fine when there not connected. the iputs are from my dvd player and it plays the sounds just fine but there is a background hum that is always on when im using it to watch a dvd or play music when im not using it i have to take the power out as the hum is anoyig

    can anyoe help please? thanks :) :) :)

    Must be a ground problem as a 12vdc amp is floating as it would normally use the cars chassis as a ground or earth.
    An in-line ground loop isolator may be of use.

    sounds cool, i am gunna get a car batttery for my system i tink. is there n e way of making my own ground loop isolator? im on a budget!

    im running an active sub so its built in and my dvd player is feeding it wit low level signal

    If it was hum off the power supply, you'd hear it with no input. If its only happening on one input, then its likely to be down to either the source or the cable.
