That auction does not include the actual hard drive, just the enlcosure and stand.

Thanks for the reply. I do know that it is just the enclosure, that is all I want.
I am not sure what these things are called exactly, I don't think anyone knows what to call them they seem to have a different name on every website.
I have got a seagate external hard drive and the casing on this is broken and I don't think it will last much longer but the hard drive is working perfectly. I have got loads of video and music on this hard drive and noticed these hard drive media players and thought to myself that it may be worth getting one. The thing is I don't want to spend to much money on one but I want one that will play a lot of different file types. And as I said in my original post this looks familiar, or could that be because they all look the same.
I have seen a cheap one in maplin but I haven't read many good reviews about it.

erdie is this the Maplin one you speak
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=97124&doy=5m5
If so i bought one of these for my parents three weeks ago and it is a great bit of kit.A lot of the reviews put me off at first , but it is very simple to use.

The main problem is the menu browser it lists all your movies , music and photo's in one long order of each ,not by folder name.

To overcome this i made three new folders on the hard drive MOVIES , MUSIC , PHOTO'S and copied all the folders into their relevant place .
It now works a treat .
On the main menu you have the choice of PHOTO'S , MUSIC , VIDEO'S , FILES.Choose files and select one of the folders you have made , you have all your photo's , videos , music all in folder form.

    Hope this help's and for £40 it's a pretty good buy:thumbsup:

Does the Maplin one actually play VOBs and can it also play them seamlessly ?

Also, is there firmware support for future updates and Divx 6 playback ?

Apparently the manual says it will play the full ripped dvd as if you had the disk.
Don't know about firmware but it is a Sumvision Aqua media player re-badged.

From what I've read, it'll play VOB's just fine (which is great).
What I'd like to know is...will it play .mov (quicktime) videos ?

The AquaPlus (which I think is the same media player) is being sold by SPV and states firmware upgradable.
Question is, where's the firmware download site ?

I got the Sumvision Aqua Plus but need to know how I can get it to play VOBs and dvd folders.

The box claims it can play dvd folders just like a dvd player and claims to play VOBs but the VOB i tried just kept breaking up (sound and picture).

AVi's with mp3 sound play fine, but Divx with ADPCM sound (recorded on Archos units) will not play sound.

Any help would be great and maybe some info regarding firmware updates would be cool too.

If not found out already, what I do is run the dvd through shrink first, just to make smaller (my pref) just highlight the video ts folder and hit the dvd button on your remote. Yep dosent like divx/xvid that has full 5.1 encoding for some reason, stick to ones around 349mb should be fine. Firmware not sure they will be bringing any out, heard from staff at svp. They have also released a similar model called the zengo, basically the same but lets you record from dvd/tv to xvid.

The 2.5HDD media players on ebay are powered by 6V (mains power) and the HDD can be read by 5V (USB power).
Question is, has anyone seen portable (rechargeable battery type) power adaptors that can power and play the media player on the go, via USB ?
