My mate lent me his Whalfedale Valdus 300's for a party I had on the weekend.. It had been running of a Nad C370(bridged) and a nad mono block that was the same power as the amp. The amps were also his. I believe thay had about 300w per channel.

The speakers were rated at 120w. But He assured me that he had been running them to the full extent of the amps without any problems.
The night was going fine and the sound was great, until **BANG**. the left speaker cone 'exploded'..

The cone is still on the frame, but it plays sound with distortion at low volumes.

    The right speaker is fine.

    Is it fix-able ?

My mate wasnt at the party.. so he doesnt know yet

Oh dear!! Spoilt the party too, I bet. :( Contact Wharfedale and ask them if they do a replacement cone. Should be cheap too. If you replace one cone only, the speakers may sound a little diff. until the new one is run-in too.:rotfl: You'll probably have to own up to the problem anyway, your mate will surely understand;)

I delt with warfedale once when a driver cone started to play up. They asked me to remove the drive unit and sent it to them for matching. I recived a replacement within a week. The engineer called to find out if i wanted help fitting the new unit. Excellent sevice and very reasonable on price too. Give em a ring I found them very helpful.
When is your mate expecting it back?:zonked:

Jeez, a bridged c370 has a dynamic output of about 400W.

I would try contacting Wharfedale as has been suggested. Double check that right cone as well - might be fubar.
