went and swapped my 360 and nintendo ds plus 100 quid for a new ps3. Got xmen and motorstorm with it. Must say that my first impressions are quite favourable. The new controller is quite nifty in regards to the motion sensor , especially for playing motorstorm. Donno about the blu ray player, i've already got hd-dvd, both hooked up to my pc via 360 drive and an a1. So im gonna have to get some more movies to do a comparison. So im now officially format neutral although i still rankle at the region locking.

well done memoryex. You wont be dissapointed, although dont be worried about the lack of games, there's plenty to come in the next few months, and Motorstorm will keep you busy and totally engrossed 'til then :)

i also went over to the dark side whilst holidaying in hong kong, the ps3 is pretty decent but none of the games are anything special compared to 360 ( except super rub a dub which is awesome) i like the media management and black hawk down on blu-ray is superb. region coding is a bitch though and i will never understand people that love sony when they clearly rip off the consumer every way they can.

HD-DVD is definitely the better option for the consumer, im just a technology whore so i love having both! i guess the next question is whether or not the wii is really worth it! im siding with no but then i have never played one so what do i know!

was that the demo gt hd that you can download from the marketplace?

cus to be honest i found that a real dissapointment. PGR3 is way older and looks way better i thought.

Ive always said, both formats will win, LG have brought out a new model that does both, without the issues they had before. We had all this arguing over DVD+R and DVD-R, guess what - theyre both still in the market! I think both Bluray and HDDVD will still be around in 5 years, Id bet on it.

theres no way i would get rid of my 360 for the ps3, couldnt do without halo 3 or any of the other great exclusives thats why im having both this generation, definitely the way to go.

i would tend to agree on the 2 format war. Both will be around for a long time because of the dual format players due out. Ive had the 360 for a while now and it was beginning to freeze again (3rd one) so i decided to go for the 2 year warranty on the ps3 :) I'll get the xbox 360 later this year when the elite comes down to a decent price.

Well I own a PS3 and an xbox 360 and to be honest if you are a gamer - to trade in your 360 for a PS3 is gaming suicide

Yes it's great to have both, but if I had to chose, then I would chose the 360 and I can't see this changing much in the nexty 12 months.

But as I have both - not an issue for me. I just can't understand why you would trade in the 360 to get a PS3?

cheers

the 360 was a repair and it was starting to exhibit the same symptoms as the one i sent back. It was out of warranty and i couldnt be bothered waiting for it to die :-( I really got the ps3 as a blu ray player anyway. Im waiting for the 360 elite version to some out because of the hdmi output. I've also got a really powerful pc that i tend to play mmorg's on now so i wasnt playing the 360 anywhere near as much as i used to to. Add in the fact that i was going to have to buy a wireless adaptor and another years xbox live it was starting to add up. And unless i havent mentioned it....i wanted a blu ray player :D sad i know but its not if i dont have a fair amount of disposable income :rotfl:

I also picked up a PS3 with Motorstorm on Wednesday and very impressed with it so far  but I also kept my 360 + Wii.

The 360 is still the best gaming machine at the moment and looks like it will stay that way for at least another year.

If I had to keep only one it would be the 360.
