I have a few beginner's questions

Hi all :) It's a pleasure to be part of these forums.

I've just started to consider building an HTPC as a viable alternative to purchasing a DVD recorder or similar. I'd like to be able to watch and record Sky through it (although not Sky+), play Blu-ray discs and hook it up to my HDTV.

I've had a look at a few parts but this is the first time I've tried to build a media PC and while I've built normal PCs a few times it seems like this could be a bit more complicated  Can anyone tell me the kinds of components I'd need to be able to do the things above? I know I need motherboard, RAM, power supply, blu-ray drive and case, but do I need a separate graphics card? Do I need a TV tuner card or can I just connect my Sky box? And am I forgetting anything?

It'd be great if someone could give me a few quick answers or point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance :)

Be warned though, there is alot of work involved and you won't get perfect results immediately.

Good luck!
