Except I don't really, but sometimes it just drives me insane. :suicide:

My issue lies with Component switching, and here's my story.....

    • I have a Wii connected to the DVD/VDP "in" on the rear of the Denon.
    • I then have a component lead going from the Denon to my PJ.

Now what I'm trying to do is create a setup on my Harmony 885 so that when I turn the Wii on (manually as it doesn't have infra red) the PJ switches on and the amp switches over to the Wii's video and audio inputs.

Now when I come to choose which input I want the PJ on, it doesn't give me the option of Component.

If I leave it as "Video" then update the remote, when I turn use the "Play Wii" option the amp comes on and I get sound, but the PJ powers on and sits there not doing anything.

Why is there no "Component" or "YbPbr" in the Harmony options (or am I missing something)?

I'm going to remove the "Play Wii" activity from the Harmony and then use it to manually turn on the PJ and the amp and I'll report back shortly.

    Help!

Go to Source input is missing. From there you can edit the input list and the selection method.

This option can be found in the device setup, "Source input is missing" works as a shortcut

Thanks, but it's that next stage that baffles me.

A quick update here-if I switch the Wii on (manually) then switch the amp and the PJ on using the 885, I can get the Wii's audio by selecting "Input DVD".

I can then get video by grabbing the PJ remote and pressing "YPbPr" so maybe I can map those to commands to the 885.

    I'll report back!

If the amp & pj have direct commands for every sound & picture input, this should be easy.

Learn any missing command, go to Adjust Inputs, Select Method 2, edit the list, and map the direct commands.

    Ok-a modicum of success....

I've "taught" the 885 the "YPbPr" command from the PJ remote and created a "Wii" activity using the "DVD" input on the amp and also the "YPbPr" command from the PJ remote and it works (kind of!)

The only thing is that it doesn't work straight away and I have to click the help button which forces the PJ to have a hunt for a video signal but then hey presto-video is present!

Back to tweaking the 885-any suggestions (a delay perhaps)?

PJ setup -> Adjust delays -> Power-On Delay-> Increase the value you'll find there

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Is it me or should adding activities just not be this painful? :suicide:

Actually, adding activities is easy, the problems come frequently from badly setup devices, I never trust the default setup.

    Yes sorry-that's what I meant.

I mean, how hard should it be just to get an amp and a PJ to switch to the right inputs? :suicide:

The software is time consuming, and annoying, but after a few weeks, you will not have to use it again.

Ok, so at the moment I have to keep using the 885's "Help" button to get video on.

I selct "Wii" and the amp switches on and I get audio, but no video (it says it has found something at 1280 x 720 but there's nothing else switched on), so I hit "Help" and lo and behold the video signal is on and all is well.

I've tried going back into the Harmony setup and telling it that it's not quite right and that Help solves it, but to no avail.

Do you any other activity involving the amp & pj? What happens if you select the Wii activity from another activity that has already powered on the amp & pj?

I'll check to see what happens when I switch from 360 and Sky HD.
