I think it's awful: Cliched, predictable, happy clappy, boring, cutesy, and juvenile. I especially hate the Willow character. I mean, get a backbone and stop looking sorry for yourself. I've tried to watch it. My brother is a fanatic. I think its totally boring!!!!!!!! :boring:

I can appreciate that it isn't to everyone's taste, but to describe it as "cliched" "predictable" "cutesy" or "happy clapping" is just ludicrous! Have you even watched it? It was highly original, unpredictable, and it was certainly not "happy", in fact it dealt with many serious issues :suicide:

It's easy to make a bold statement like that about anything, how about giving us some examples and why you think the show is all of the above.

Other than not agreeing with you on any of your points I'd like to pose a question. How does your brother's watching something entail you having to do so as well?I think that sort of lack of initiative nullifies anything you have to say on the matter ;)

I actually think that Buffy is one of the greatest TV series ever aired. To me it is none of those things. It is a show about people and how they grow, their emotions and their lives. The monsters etc are secondary.

There are several episodes each season where I end up in tears either of laughter or of sadness. I love it and can watch it over and over again. The acting from Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hanigan is extra-ordinarily powerful in several episodes. Then there's FAITH (Elizammmm Eliza...).

So there you go..they've got one fan here.

Gorshin, I hardly see how you can make that sort of judgement on an entire series when 'being forced to watch'. Any series in which you just see bits will be crappy.

Also Buffy definitely has some eye candy for the first couple of series but then the quality of the acting, writing and overall episodes take you away from just staring at SMG all the time!

it's about good vs evil... but happily totty in abundance on both sides.. :)

I think it's great, one of the best series that's been on TV for many years.
The continuity of the characters has been near perfect, way better than anything soap world has to offer.. As Gordon says some of the episodes really get to you, forget the vampire stuff and you've got a first class bit of drama.. no way that can be dismissed as rubbish.

Im must admit though that one of the most inspired comedy moments of all time though came in the first series:

    1. Where the guy (i of main characters) says 'What?' after overhearing Buffy talk to Giles about being a slayer (in first series). V funny.
    2. The Master: he's f'ing hilarious: 'Luke: bring me back something...young'

P.s. I don't think Sarah M.G. is hot AT ALL!!!!!!!!!

I think Buffy is great and agree with Gordon. If you want to see something unpredictable and stunningly conceived, yet still hilarious and serious by turn, watch 'Once More With Feeling' and listen to the way the lyrics drive the current episode and set up later events. Inspired? Yes.

BTW - Alyson Hannigan is hot, especially in season four when they get to college. The scene in Xander's dream of her and Amber Benson (Tara) in his ice-cream van are....sorry, need to take a cold shower now

Personally I think its below average and about on par with eastenders, Kat Slater is scarier than any monster in Buffy.

    OK.
I never really wanted to watch buffy when it was on, so I missed the first few seasons. Late one night when I was suffering from a bad case of insomina, I saw an episode on bbc2. Not sure what season it was but I was intreeged even though It was part way through a current story arc. I think it was some thing to do with 3 geeks trying to kill buffy one of them was called andrew and later ended up sort of being on buffys side in the other seasons. Anyway after watching this episode I started to try and catch them on sky . I was never disapointed if I missed it you understand, but always found it quite entertaining and a lot better than some of the other pap on at the same time  ...............Now stargate sg1 on the other hand I never ever miss
