Also, I'd be interested to hear what sort of problems you are having with the SR32. Regardless, the GS300/GS320 is a far better camcorder.

    hi thanks for your advice
ok they say its mac compatible, then the software they give you is not mac compatible, its not final cut pro, or imovie compatible which is ridiculous. i suppose other than that its ok but i cant use it cause i have a mac. the quality is not great either. have you used it? it has no firewire connection?! i dont understand it...
    thanks again

I haven't used the SR32, but I've tried some of the previous models.

HDD cams all use MPEG2. As the HDD is a file system Firewire isn’t needed like with a DV cam, USB is fine to copy the files from the HDD to a PC HDD.

I’m not a MAC user so I can’t comment, though I would think there should be a way to edit with FCP… you may have to rename the files to be .mpg.

Anyway, I’m not surprised that the quality isn’t very good. HDD cams can be good, but you need to go for a higher end model. Pound for pound miniDV still gives better quality, especially at the lower end of the budget range.

The AVCHD ones are certainly not mac compatible but IIRC FCP can edit the mpeg2 files from SD mpeg2 files which are simply transferred via USB to the mac
